right now i'm on spring break down here in florida and my LR3 last night made a wierd noise while sitting in the parking lot and the suspension lowered. It has the message reading suspesnion fault, and the compressor makes funny noises. I called LRN and they said to take it to Landrover birmingham. The tow truck driver just came and pick it up and it's on it's way. Yesterday I was doing some light four-wheeling but we were going fast since it was sand and wide trails, i had hit a bump and 10 mins later a weird sound like my brakes were bad came from the rear right tire. Then it went away and later on in the day i had to tow a 1993 J*&P wrangler out of a swampy ditch to the side of the trail. While winching him out smoke started to come out of the rear area of my car. Did I blow my airbag and my compressor or just the compressor?

Did it smell like you burned somehting up? Sounds like the compressor, although I don't know where the compressor is located on an LR3. I'm curious to hear how this turns out.

it did smell a little weird last night but not today, but when it happened my freind emily said it smelt really bad when the bag/compressor failed. I really miss my LR right now because now i don't have any means of transportation, and I don't know if i trust a LR dealer I have never used before. ANYONE ever use LR Birmingham,AL? I have pics of it on the truck but i need to upload them, I think it was resting on the bumpstops too.

Must be nice to be a 16 year old high school kid in Florida on Spring Break in a $45000+ Land Rover.
I wish my dad was as generous when I had to work to buy a car. Oh well.

It wouldn't matter if i was in a 8,000 rover as long as I was driving one.

There have been quite a few compressor failures. Land Rover is already on their third version of the pumps. It probably has nothing to do with what you did. Hopefully they'll have onein stock, but don't be surprised if they have to order one. Last week it was considered a restricted part which and LR was not releasing them immediately for shipment. I think it was supposed to come off restricted status this week.

alright ash maybe we can meet up. It turns out my EAS compressor went bad, Land Rover Birmingham,AL said the muffler for it broke off even though the protection plate broke was untouched. So the theory of banging it up off-road is a not true, today they are testing the car out and tommorow i'll probaly get the car back. Thank god for LR ROAD SIDE SERVICE.

It wouldn't be new, then, would it?

But he would be driving a coil Land Rover wouldn't he? :D This is exactly why I won't buy a new Land Rover, any 4wd actually, with all the computer and pneumatic systems that default to asphalt only mode.

You can buy a new coil sprung Land Rover, just not in North America. I don't think your average soccer mom knows the difference. Or cares. As for asphalt only, ever do 65 on foam rubber bump stops?

You can buy a coil sprung LR3 here in North America. You have to hunt around for it, but there is a V6 S model LR3. It has all of the features of terrain response, but no air suspension. Nice truck for off road.

Yes, that would be nice. It would also eliminate a black circle with Consumer Reports. The only one I ever heard of in North America showed up at a dealeship on the East Coast by mistake. It went back. We cannot get any non EAS models.

You sure? I checked the LRNA site, and they say that there's EAS even on the V6.

In the UK (and presumably the rest of the real-Rovered world), you can get a 5 seat td6 without EAS.

It sounds great, though (for me, at least), I still think that the LR3 is a design anomoly.

I have with the LR3. I had to do 65 on the way back because thats the speed limit on the road I was off of, and it was rough.

I just got back my rover today and it rides so much higher than my old compressor ever did. 10 mins after getting my rover back I went to drive on the beach with my freind and we had to tow out a 4runner, out of deep sand and i noticed how high my rover sat in of-road mode now.

FTR, the new compressor is updated, again, and so is the software for it, if they did it right. We've had pretty good luck with them using the latest version compressor.
