Tee fittings, T fittings, whatever

Used to be I could find pretty much whatever I needed.

I've driven myself nuts over here trying to find a god damned T fitting for a coolant hose. I don't want that AN bullshit, I don't want something from a hardware store, and I don't give a rat's ass what is supposed to go where on some factory setup.

There used to be all kinds of billet shit on the market. I need a metal T or Y fitting, with two big-ass ends for a big-ass hose, and a little ass end for a little ass hose. I want a metal one, and the hoses are meant to slide over the damned thing. I don't want them to screw on, I don't want them inside, I don't want any of that fancy shit.

I'll make one if I have to, but these things have gone somewhere, and I want to know where.

Don't even bother asking what I'm trying to fix, modify or replace. I'm not going to tell you, and I don't want twenty people trying to tell me how to get around the issue. If I wanted to get around it, I'd have done it already.

I want to fucking buy something, and I don't know where to buy it anymore. All I see is that AN crap now. I don't want that. I want a piece that will join two big hoses and one small hose. That's all. I want aluminum or stainless.

I'm about a week of frustration away from going down to the shop and having a bunch made.

Cheers,

Kennith

Might be time to re-think that anger management course you skipped.

I do apologize. My occasionally volatile and distasteful manners of even the most heightened class should previously have been noted. In effort to prepare you for any future encounter, be aware that I am a rather concentrated example of the rascally sort.

Shall I fetch you a tissue?

Those places give me a good starting point, but I really can't believe that such automotive-specific fittings are no longer available. I'll have a look, though, I assure you. I'm still open to further suggestions.

I'm going for something a damn sight bigger than that. I will say that this is for a main radiator hose application. I need something bigger than they offer. I'm going to be severely annoyed if I've got to make something. I want a smooth, clean T or Y fitting.

There is some company out there making these directly for automotive applications, and not using AN connectors. There has to be.

That's the most annoying part of the ricer age ending outside the JDM. There were all manner of parts available for many uses. I was happy to see it thriving, and drew on the aftermarket explosion frequently. Some of that stuff was good.

On Monday, I'm going to burn up my left over mini-truck and rodding connections. Hopefully someone knows a company I can't think of.

If not, I'll try to work with the places that have been linked. There may be something in there that will work, but commonly such things are made of metals I don't really want, or will require a certain amount of finishing. If I can't find what I want, however, I'm going to have some made.

I've got a few people left to call. I just don't understand how something so simple and widely used can be so damned hard to find nowadays.

I've frequently got to make things or have them made, but I've just been amazed that such a thing isn't commonplace on the market anymore. I appreciate the links, and I will definitely be searching them, but I'd still love for someone to pop in and drop a link to a rod shop or something that's still cranking out billet hose fittings.

I'm still on the hunt, though. I'll mention it if I find something buried in those links, but if anyone thinks of anything automobile-specific, it would be nice.

Lotsa words but no dimensions.

If you're gonna whine about not being able to find something, you'd damned well better describe what it is you're looking for.

Have you been studying at the Dan Chapman School of Diplomacy again?

You won't share what you're building, eh? I don't share the identity of my hydraulic supplier. Hint-I have four hydraulic suppliers within a 30 minute drive of the shop. If I can't get it, it don't exist.

Outside diameter of the main tube should be in the range of 2-2 5/8 inches. The intersecting tube should be around 1 3/8 inches. I'm interested in anything around this range.

And, yes, I'm in a bit of a pissy mood. I broke a bone in the back of my hand, I can't seem to fix it by myself, and I've got work I have to get done. It's all kinds of loose and it won't work properly. I thought I had it right this weekend, but I snapped it again trying to remove an oxygen sensor.

It's just too loose. It doesn't work, and it's starting to wear on my patience. I'm not a happy camper. I don't like going to doctors, but I'm going to have to see one if I want this fixed in a timely manner.

So, yes. I'm in a fairly perpetual state annoyance. Bite me.

HA!

That's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Leave it to those zany Germans to make something I need... Now, I'll have to have a look and see if they've got the sizes I'm after. At least I have someone to call. If they don't have it, they probably know someone who will.

I knew someone was making the damned things.

none of your fucking business
Dude, your hands are perpetually fucked.

Last time I saw you, you sliced your hand open sharpening your knife and had just stitched it back together...we medicated with pizza and beers.

Yup. That was a fun time.

Normally, I can fix things. That's what's really annoying the hell out of me. The break is too complex, and in a difficult spot. I can't fix it quickly enough or guarantee it's done properly without a good look inside. Digging in there to find out will just make things worse. I tried a bright light on the other side, but it's just not working.

I've made it worse setting it and trying to use it. I just can't get it in the right spot this time. I've pulled and pushed and moved things around, but I can't get it right.

I don't have time for this shit right now. I'm going to get it looked at tomorrow and I want it fixed so it will at least be useful by the weekend. I heal quickly enough, but not if I can't get the damned thing straight. It keeps healing wrong and it keeps breaking.

I've broken it there before, and I never got it quite right.

If something in there is still set improperly, I'm going to twist the whole god damned thing until it all breaks again. I want it lined up properly and fixed this time. It's pissing me off. I can't even light a smoke without it all trying to pop out the back of my hand.

I hate doctors.

You need a hand doctor to fix it before it is too late to fix. I live with one, and hear horror stories of neglect. Do yourself a favor, get xrays, shot up with some lido and have it set and immobilized -get to a doctor now, good luck with that first then on to your pipe dream for whatever you need to do to your coolant or whatever

Yeah, I'm going to have it fixed. Whatever they need to do. I'm not happy about it, though. I'm used to fixing my own problems. I don't like being helped.

I understand what you are saying, though. This issue needs to be sorted. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

I've had a few fuck ups on that one. Broke three fingers, had one boxer fracture (knew it was coming the second before it happened), and screwed up the damn trapezium and the joint. Left one has taken a beating as well.

Luckily, most of it healed nicely. I generally go back together very well, but it adds up over time.

I've got a suspicion that I've dislocated and further damaged the trapezoid and capitate, and broken the metacarpal. When it first happened this time, there was a distinct snap, the bone popped out of place, and it all went loose.

I applied traction and got the one bit back in for the most part, but something is damaged, and it's not just the metacarpal. I thought I got it right with a bit of immobilization, but later, a quite audible ripping and another snap proved me wrong. It's quite loose.

I've fitted one of those rubber armored Mechanix gloves with stiffening ribs and a wrap to keep my wrist still. I've now given up trying to fix it or use it.

I've got a serious problem right now, though. I've got nerve damage that affects my left arm from my shoulder clean to the tips of my fingers. :banghead: It works, but not very well. I've got trouble with fine motor skills and controlling the amount of force I'm using.

So, I'm fucked for a while. I've got the muscle, but few ways to intelligently apply it. I have to get this break fixed right this time. I don't have a choice.

These posts are taking a while to type.

As for my little pipe dream, it's going to be nice.

Cheers,

Kennith
