Hey I heard you can't bring mans best friend "dog" to SCARR This year? Some one said it was voted on at some Texasrovers meeting, I was not notified. Usually things like this are sent out in an e-mail so the members can vote on it, not just controlled by the Board members, or SCARR committee.

William - there is a few posts on this on TX rovers. No, there will be no dogs allowed this year. There were some very ill behaved dogs last year, membership did vote, and it was decided no dogs this year. Sorry about it , your babies are very sweet and ride well.

Ahhh your Disco has made it to the idiot club. Mine has been President for a while, but today we had the talk and her ass is straightened out........for now.

Haha, yeah.. just now figured out my transmission/transfer case overheating light that I'd been having problems with since July's flood SAR we were involved with. Was just a toasted temperature sensor on the transfer case. luckily.

But then directly after that I started getting a noise, strangely enough it was my brand new Tom Woods front driveshaft, so it's currently removed and getting fixed. :ack:

Well then she should be ready for SCARR. I won't be driving down this year anyway, flying in from MO.

What the hell?

That's ridiculous.

Why not ban dogs from dinner and designate some dog/no-dog campsites?

Or better yet, make leashes mandatory.

...but ban dogs completely? That's really unfair to the majority of dog owners.

If they are going to ban dogs they need to ban the kids as well. I thought SCARR was a
SCARR - History, Events, and Activities

Activities for the whole Family which includes dogs as they are part of the Family.

Wow. So, the masses get punished for the irresponsibility of the few? That's pretty f'ed up when it comes to people who actually keep their canine friends on a leash and are responsible enough to even clean up after them.
Tell ya what....yall have fun this year at SCARR. As a responsible pet owner, I choose to camp with my dog as part of the family. So, if Texas Rovers has chosen to exclude pets this year, they can exclude me as well.
Cheers,
Brian.

I know, I know - it stinks - pure and simple. I agree with leashes. We had people with dogs peeing on people's tents, eating food off people's plates, and getting in the way on trails. I didn't make the decision, the membership did..........sorry.

While I completely understand , and agree (as my dogs are well behaved trail dogs) - were you not passing on SCARR for Big Shell?;)

Guys I know it sucks, but it is what it is, AND the masses voted including other dog owners.

But I never got to vote on the issue at all, something tells me that I didn't get the e-mail because I am a STR member. A I just saying that or is that true? Who is the membership? I should be on that list . But I was never informed on the issue.
To every one that Attended SCARR 08 And brought the family dog, bring them again to SCARR 09 and keep them on The leash, away from the trail and out of harms way, and in the Car when the Masses are eating at the big pavilion. So Come all Fellow Land Rover Owners and bring the Family dog. As your dog or dog's Are part of every ones Family.

William - I can't answer your question as to why you didn't get an email. But you also should not be telling people to go ahead ignore rules set forth, your club is not responsible for SCARR.

Honestly, I did post that I was going to Big Shell. But the truth behind it was that I was going to suprise the STR guys by showing up with my dog and I was bringing my friend Brandon as well. The wife was supposed to be out of town that weekend so I was going to take advantage of the away time to go wheeling. :)

I will have to see about it, as long as Brett doesn't go - we drink too much beer otherwise!

You are a beer thief and I've already warned the STR guys about you.

Can I bring my hedgehog to SCARR? It'll be on a leash and it usually folds nicely into a ball.

I think that there needs to be a re-vote on the dog issue from what I have found out a few members decided on the no dog rule at scarr for 09, now to me that just doesn't seem rite at all, And I thought Texas rovers was "The Club is made up of singles, couples, and families who come together to enjoy the great Texas outdoors and to share their enjoyment of Land Rovers." that is on this web page. http://texasrovers.com/news.php?item.2.1
To me Families includes man's best friend your dog.

So what gives.????
