We would have next to zero criminal rate - when I first went to Saudi when I was 7 - I was amazed at how the jewelry was out in the open in the stores - people would leave money laying on the seat of their cars - unlocked - but it was because of the punishment that was dealt to criminals - there were two guys from McDonnell-Douglas (amercans) who were caught doing drugs and they were immediately put in Saudi prison - my dad said it was do to the fact that when you come there - there are certain things that aren't allowed and you forfeit your right to be deported if you are caught committing any major offenses -It all amazed me for year or so and then you start to get used to it. They do alot of things I don't like but we could use some of their tactics here!!

Yes.
It has been shown that the death penalty is not a deturent for crime. This is one of the big issues use in the debate for no death penalty.
