And its a fiat 500 sport. Its her first car purchase ever,(just out of collage) . She even got a manual transmission, after some practice with my Porsche. She is in love with her new car.
And honesty I like the little thing too, it does some pretty neat hands free Bluetooth crap. It has decent poower and the five speed is very good. But it handles outstanding for a car of this class i had a blast in there demo. The car has very little body roll And nearly endless amounts of grip. Once pushed past its grip limitations it really has no bad tendencies, but when driven with the stability control system on you just can't get into trouble in the first place. The suspension is just right for the car of this type, firm but not rough. It is a fun car to drive, its not a corolla.
I don't like everything about it though. The rear "twist beam" axle works just fine but it seems like they took the cheap way out. Seemingly the sunroof option was only intended for people under 5'4" or people who have horrible posture, my hair rubs the roof and I'm only 5'10" or so. But thankfully she didn't want the sunroof. The interior is very plastic, but it looks nice and functions well. The recommended oil change interval is 8,000 miles, talk about planed obsolescence. The little 1.4 has got to be hard on oil with its "multi air" design, it has no throttle plate and uses variable intake valve lift to monitor air flow. It had that damn o.a.t coolant that gets hungry and ruins everything in about six years. The oil filter is in a inconvenient location but it is a tiny car after all.

I drove a 500 for about 10 minutes; it was a nice comparison to the Grand Cherokee I was renting.
JGC was a complete POS. Cinquecento could easily be lovable!

They are pretty neat. You only see hot chicks driving them in the rest of the world. Hopefully only hot chicks buy them in America to keep up the trend.

Letting the gf learn to drive stick in your porche = FAIL. :p

Exactly. My wife learned to drive stick on a rental car in Ireland. An hour spent in the parking lot of the Blarney Park Hotel went along way. And it was nice to just give the car back at the end of the week if she toasted the clutch.

LOL

Just how cheap is this car?

I'll agree it is unique... like everything else but no way you'll ever be able to argue a compact car is safe in this day and age.

My wife's best friend bought a 500 cabrio back in July. We went for the test drive with her in the driver seat, moi in the passenger seat and the salesman in the back. It is cute for a girl.

Next year they are coming out with the Abarth ( 695 ) and I am seriously wanting one ( I had a 500, 600 a 128 and 132 all with the Abarth package back in the days )

I am glad she likes it. They are cute, the dealership here sells the shit out of them, mostly to girls. I'll keep our mini though! :p
