And looking for a good indie LR mechanic, preferably as close to Norfolk as possible. Anyone in the area got any opinions.

Hey, some of us are moving to MD. ;)

lol, close enough. :)

by the way Andy - reading your other thread on business. i just met the son of the family that owns/runs this store in NW DC: http://www.wagshals.com/ His name is Aaron Fuchs and he is actually a butcher in the shop and also owns a '75 88" (thus how we met). your business sounds more restaurant side, but if you want his contact info to talk about what you are thinking and how they have managed to stay in business for so long, let me know.

you too? sucker. :p

Yeah, I followed a girl from PA to UT, now I'm following her from UT to MD ... sucker is right ;)

On a side note, I'll need a rover once I move back to MD and people to wheel with. Looks like you have lots of rovers so if you want to get rid of one ... I could help you :D But I need one that will make it to Moab at least twice a year or I'll go into major withdrawl. I also read somewhere a long time ago on dweb you raced 24 hrs of canaan? or was it snowshoe? Still bike? I raced Canaan 5 times before the race was discontinued. Might have to get together for biking and wheeling.

Thank's I'll look into his stuff. Right now I'd love to do the business idea, but start up capitol is looking like an issue. So it is up in the air till I can rob a bank  If I can figure out how to get the money I'll have to bug you for his contact info, thanks again!

I live in Norfolk...and don't know any good, independent shops that work or specalize in Rovers. Been driving Rovers for 35 years, too. (I do know a good foreign car place, but they have little experience with 4WD....I go there for vehicle inspections, but otherwise do all the work myself.) Forget the local LR dealership, as the one in Richmond is a far better to deal with.

Cheers

i have become a lard ass since my early days on Dweb. haha. turning 35 has hurt. i also played hockey for 30 years straight too until last years. injuries are no longer temporary, but permanent. sucks. so i am not in the shape i use to be in. now i just sit in my rovers and point.
most likely the Rovers will be staying in PA where my business is. will bring the RRC and one of the D1s there and just dolly the RRC when needed.
only other thing i can offer is horse back riding. taking my Thoroughbred down in a few weeks and with my girlfriends three we will have a total of 18 at the farm. 300 acres to play on too, but most of it will be off limits to the rovers. :(
trucks will either be stored at Paragon or at Woodward (in State College).
Bel Air is about 15 miles or so northwest of Baltimore. not a bad area, but then again i am use to looking off Sarah's old porch and seeing this.

No worries, at 33 I too am a lard ass, so sitting in a rover is just fine by me. I'll need a wheeling rig again, but at least after I sell my house out here I'll have the cash to get back into the game. Probably wait till I get back east to get one though, as moving 3 vehicles would be harder than two.

edit- looks like I'll be in Gaitherburg FYI .... sure hope the skiing in gaithersburg is as good as it is here in salt lake  At least the wheeling will be better than here in Utah  On man I'm in trouble. :( At least your farm picture shows lots of green, one thing lacking here in Ut. I miss that part of the east, plus all the running water.

if i keep the trucks at Paragon you are welcome to use one of them. i will leave the keys with Kyle (owner) still not sure where i will keep them this summer. depends on if our new location is finished by the summer. still waiting on some insurance issues to clear. Paragon is not that close, but still better than anything else MD has to offer.
i will be down there starting March 1st. what town will you be in?

43 and not a lard ass! Gotta work harder to show up you youngsters.

sigh ... lucky ... but the NIH isn't located in OR

I think I'll blame the rover for getting me fat ... spent so much time trying to keep it run I had no time left for exercise.

Garrett - Thanks for the offer! I'll be in Gaithersburg, wifey needs to be in Bethesda for her Disertation work for the next 2 years, then a post doc in who knows where. I need a rig to go out to Utah and visit Marc and soon Steve when they hit moab. Paragon is in PA right? Plus a western can finally say they went to MAR ... hinging on me buying a rover again of course.

Paragon is in Hazleton, PA. right off 80/81 in the north eastern part of the state. you can take one of my D1s to MAR. just don't bend it up too much. not like anyone else i know that has done this to my beloved white one. that fucker!
i don't know much about MD. i am not making the move because i like the state. i will be happy staying on the farm the entire time. Bel Air has two nice pubs and there is always Baltimore, but i dispise traffic and large amounts of people.
