Shane was infected and beginning to turn. They made that incredibly clear. The inference, I believe, was that Shane infected the prisoner through his wounds, so yeah - airborne.

Awesome episode and ending.

Everyone was infected but the group and living are asymptomatic, even Shane. He went crazy just because he was human...

Hmm, don't know about Shane being infected first, I was thinking the prisoner "contracted" the virus in the barn (from zombies previously being there) through the open wounds from handcuffs and then passed it onto Shane.

Everyone has the virus but does not become symptomatic until they die. Just my .2

So if Share was infected; two questions.

First, how long?

Second, what if the baby is his? Zombie baby?

Could have been ANY of the times he came in contact with the virus. Probably in the Hospital while he was ditching Rick.

No way on the Zombie Baby...Unless it's a still born, then which it'll eat it's own way out.

WTF is Glenn's problem? He's got the only hot chick left in the universe practally throwing her panties at him, her father's approval and he still won't hit it...

I'm also in the camp that everyone is infected, but the virus is dormant until death.

No shit. Her dad gave him his grandfather's pocket watch. That is a green light, no matter how you look at it.

Yea, Glenn is definitely dragging his feet on that...

After hearing her real life British accent on talking dead...

The producers went out of their way to show Shane's progression into madness and walkerdom, like the people who shot Rick in season one. The way he was moving in the barn and the woods - like a walker. The noises he was making - like a walker. The way he hit himself, ran himself into a tree.... I couldn't say he was asymptomatic.

Agreed that Glen is going to have to man up - looking forward to seeing his character develop further. Part of me wonders if he's not hitting it because he's afraid of getting her pregnant.

Re: zombie baby - perhaps the child will have inborn immunity.

The producer simply wanted to show the audience Shane's progression into mental collapse because of his surroundings and I must say he did a good job. Shane could not hold it together mentally, he was a product of his environment. Ricks wife set him off the deep end, he really loved her and it was taken away very quickly. I personally know some men that might react the same way.

I just hope the next finale episode isn't over the top. All of the sudden there is 3 dozen walkers coming out of the woods headed towards the farm? Why? They weren't there before besides a few roaming the woods that ended up killing Hershel's cattle.

There are things that don't support this theory - the overemphasis on the cuts, both on Shane's hand in CLOSE proximity to the walkers (Rick's was cut too, but he kept more of a distance), and the numerous closeups of the prisoner's cuts around his wrists as he struggled to get free. I could maaaaybe see the acting like a walker just being part of Shane's madness, but in combination with them almost hitting us over the heads with the cuts in closeup, that's what it's saying to me.

In any case, the mere fact that we're talking about this means they've done a great job.

glenn's chick was hotter in Van Wilder 2: the rise of Taj

She was a semi-regular on "Supernatural" for a while and pretty smoking hot on there too. knewsom, I agree, maybe Glenn is worried about gettign her preggo, but he need to explain that to her instead of running around like a 2nd grader afraid of catching the cooties... He needs to man up in regards to killing the walkers too. He hesitated and damn near got himself and Daryl killed in last night's episode.

Anyone else find it a little strange that everyone was ok with Carl stealing Daryl's BHP?

I thought about this too. I think the explanation that is that it is getting cooler and the walkers can get past the muddy creeks as it hardens up in the colder weather. I think this is what the first scene was trying to show. The walkers always knew they were there, but couldn't get at them because of natural barriers.
