Abso-bloody-lutly...the founding fathers did not anticipate "Professional Politicians"; I think if they saw what our government has become they would be advocating/organizing another revolution.:patriot:

They envisioned gentlemen of good character who would, for the benefit of society and as a part of their obligation as a leading citizens, offer themselves to the electorate as candidates to act in the best interests of society for a brief period and then to return to their non-government service lives.
They did not expect those in office to turn their civic responsibilities into a for profit business.

One term for all Representatives, Senators, Presidents and the same for
state elected officials as well.

The idea that a guy becomes a professional politician is disgusting. The sole aim of a professional politician is "to be elected, and then re-elected". This certainly does not encourage them to act for the good of the public, but rather they do those things which will assist their next re-election bid.:(

This and the fact that Discovery's are no longer manufactured is a sad commentary on the modern world.:ack:

I think it should be like the jury pool, you get called and you serve a 1 yr or 2 yr term and are paid appropriately with the ability to return to your previous profession when you are done. that way they wont have the opportunity to forget where they came from, becasue if they do, they will be broke.

I've done jury duty twice, called 3 times but only picked twice.
One was a murder trial, the other was robbery.
I totally enjoyed every minute of both trials.
I'm glad I participated, and hope that if I'm ever on the defendant end of a trial, I get 12 jurors who take their responsibility as seriously as I did.
On the other hand, many citizens are idiots.

We have this in California, all the fuckers do is job hop. They get termed out in the Senate then run for Assembly, then when termed out for that they're insurance commissioner, governor, they run for mayors, federal Senate and House. You can't get rid of them they're like fucking cockroaches.
