I agree with Blue, where are the dog stories or Gun incidents, how about underage drinking and wheeling?

If you guys and gals have suggestions for improvements, please feel free to email me. I'll collect those suggestions and bring them up- the 05 MAR planning starts in just two weeks!
The trail map MUST be redone- it's far too ifficult to read.

If nobody on the MAR committee has any photoshop/illustrator experience, I'd be happy to volunteer to get the map cleaned up. I think if you just lightened the map (maybe 50%) , kept the trail colors at 100%, and changed the pink/red to some other colors, it'd be a great improvement.

I will post some pics when I get home. There were no gun stories or drunk girl stories, althought rumor has it the marshalls took the keys of a few folks for driving around a bit recklessly on Sat night. I agree, a better map would be useful, and maybe an info sheet the day the rally starts about trail conditions. As far as the trailhead volunteers, you would really only need three or four, as so many start in the same places. I does not have to be anything more than a friendly warning about the current conditions, need for rescue points, etc... I stopped Mike and one other marshall on Sat just to get an idea of which trails were in good shape. I ran everything I tried just fine, but I was lookng out for a couple of stockers in our group as well as the less modified.

Another suggestion. Any way to make traffic through the center of registration two lanes wide? It took a long time to get through there, esp. when some shoppers were not watching traffic.

It was great to see the different setups on so many trucks, it was a great way to see how some modifications worked on trucks similar to mine.
Good stuff-
love this years shirt design
Burke's info was useful, like turning the shackle bolt back 1/2 turn.
trash runs through out the weekend, clean up was very fast for my group
good selection of vendors (but where was the t-shirt guy? I needed to replace a few)
women's ride (my wife missed it, but wants to do it next year)

The only thing I can think of is to move the vendors off the road a bit. Shoppers did get in the way of traffic, but it was hard not to. But, from what I saw the vendors did well this year. I spent several hundred dollors and got a deal on everything I got, I feel. I would like to see more vendors next year, and maybe an Ice truck.

The local Deputies were invited to come check the event out. They were all enthusiasts too- one does mud racing in a Chevy and one of the other ones was scoping out an old RRC for sale. I think they might be members by next year. We decided that we would contract security duties to them- there have been a few confrontations where loud/drunk people were causing problems. We'd rather leave that to the Deputies.
I *did* confiscate keys to two ATV's one evening after repeatedly telling them to park 'em or take them off-site. One of the kids (I don't really know how old he was, may have been underage) appeared to be drinking as well- they were speeding and being annoying. It came to the point where I gave them the option of giving me the keys till Sunday or they can start packing up.
We need to make it much more obvious that ATV's are NOT welcome, at all... ever. I thought the word was out, but apparently not. There was an old military loader/ATV thing runing around that was used for moving heavy stuff, but I think it gave the wrong vibe that we had one there that was 'ok' but others aren't. Next year- none. At one point a 15 year old kid came DOWN the hill climb on an ATV with a 13 year old girl- neither with a helmet. I threw them out as well- apparently a local kid.

Tommy- I'll get in touch with you about the trail maps next time around. Nice meeting you too, btw...

I will second (or third) the ice truck... We have to make an ice run every single year. (Hmmmm, Maybe I should bring an ice truck next year...) I also spent a bit o cash. It was great to have vendors there to buy the tree strap and extra recovery equipment that 3 foot deep ruts require.

An ice truck would have been sweet.

Get an Engel or ARB Fridge and forget about ice forever!

YUCK! I hate cleaning up after a muddy run like that.

I called the Reddy Ice company and they had to have a guranteed minimum to bring an ice truck. Problem is that everyone would have to meet the truck within a short amount of time to pick up- which would be near impossible.
Maybe we can find someone who has one of those big freezers like on the outside of the KwikE Mart who can stock it with ice. I hated doing ice runs as well.

Yea, lets cram 4 days worth of food for 2 people into an Engle fridge.

Can anyone get tose HUGE Army coolers? I would not mind having one of those for the longer trips I run, just for ice. I bet you can get 12-18 big bags in one of those.
