I heard about this the other day, what bullshit. If you have increased demand increase price or increase production, don't dilute your brand. The most confusing thing for me is I've seen a big increase in Maker's advertising/commercials lately. It shows they're only concerned with sales and not preserving their brand

Makers isn't my favorite but this still is a burn him at the stake worthy offense. The devil worshiping foreigners at David Sherman did the same thing to Ezra Brooks last year.

So, they don't want to raise the price, but then they cut the product without reducing the price.

Morons.

There is no need to make such a fuss over this. If Makers changes their product then whiskey drinkers are welcome to drink other brands instead. Unless you are some kind of diehard "Makers Only" drinker, there are plenty of other great options out there. If everyone who disliked this move by Makers drank other bourbons instead the message would be conveyed much more effectively than by a bunch of dudes complaining about it on an obscure internet forum.

Who said I was talking about D-web? And even if I was, I said "obscure" which is not the same thing as "insignificant". The CEO of Maker's Mark probably couldn't tell you the difference between a D1 and a D2 and would think Discoweb is a discussion forum for 70's dance music.

I've been around long enough to learn that people who underestimate the influence of D-web pay a hefty toll, either to their reputation, business, or both. Recent examples of those who have suffered D-web smackdowns include Nate Bottorf, Lincoln Tarantino, and that dude trying to sell his heavy duty drive shafts. None of those guys will tell you D-web is insignificant. They probably have other colorful descriptions.

Saw the story today on the news. Why someone would dilute the product that sells specifically because of its 'unique' taste is beyond me. Diluting the brand to appease all, while hurting the product in the long run isnt good imo. I never cared much for Maker's anyway. If you get a chance, pick up some Bowman Brothers bourbon; VA made (15 minutes down the road from me). Their small batch and especially single barrell are waaay better, imo, than Maker's.
