Tips for pulling the starter shield?

I need to replace the positive battery cable (I can tell the lug for the starter is loose and causing me all sorts of intermitten issues) so I was under there this morning and the starter shield looks like a total pain! Any tips or tricks on how to get the shield off? I searched the forum but mostly saw how much of a pain it was but nothing on how to actually get it off. I would just try to use a wobble ratchet but the fine engineering at Rover seems to preclude this. Thanks for any help.

Sorry - guess it would help if I included what year Disco - 98. Thanks again for any help.

Like it says in the first post in the Disco forum, put your vehicle info in your profile so at lest it will be there for people to check if you forget to put it in your question... Of course it's always a good idea to put the vehicle year and other relevant info in the post itself like you did :)

It is one bolt inside the engine mount bracket. Get the bolt out then slide the thing back and around. It is just clipped to the starter. If you get pissed at it break out the tin snips. It isn't the end of the world to run without the shield.

It's pretty easy to take off, that is, if you have the thing 7' up in the air on a lift. Just a 10mm head on the bolt going throught the enigine mount. I think mine would probably be cut by now if I had to do it while laying on the ground.
