I'll be headed for a trip to Tokyo in a few weeks and have started looking into what to do there.

Does anyone have any recommendations for things to see / do / eat while in Tokyo?

There are lots of great chain restaurants there. KFC, Mcdonalds, Sizzler, and they might even have a red lobster. ;)

Thanks. Now I'm sure Ballah will have to chime in as well with a recommendation about Lonestar Steakhouse.

Oi, why all the hate. Some stuff at Lonestar is good. Now I hope you get kidnapped by Ninjas...

When will you be arriving? We can hook up for dinner! I'll take you to a good wait, Great Gyutongue restaraunt.

Or.... you can come over to the house for some dutch oven Jambalaya leftovers

I think that is in Singapore, especially the pork skin stuff, it doesn't sound like Japanese, got to be Chinese or Thai stuff.

Discoinjapan, I'll get in touch with you closer to arriving and maybe we can set something up.

Tongue, though? Man, I don't know about eating tongue. I guess if I had a few big bottles of beer first, I'd probably give it a go.

As to the twins, I think my wife might have an issue with that, especially since she'll be with me. Sounds fun though.

Please don't tell me that restaurant is a Wolfgang Puck Spago in Tokyo.

yep; went there 1-2 times each month; very nice.

I figured discoinjapan would take care of the other stuff.

do though take time to visit the fish market - it is quite an experience; try to get there by 5:00AM for the tuna auction.

Sorry, it's a collection of street vendors in a sort of mall food court set up.. It could be called some thing else in Tokyo. I figured it was a universal thing. Guess not.

Just let me know!
Are you coming for business or wil you be vacationing? So much to do if you'll have the time and money for it(its quite expensive to do anything over here).
I GUARENTEE you will enjoy the tongue. I'll even hook you up with some raw horse (my favorite!)

Ya, the crunchy pork skin probably isn't so Japanese although, some braised pork belly certainly is.. I get the food from that part of the world mixed up quite a bit. Of course growing up it was all Chinese food no matter what it was.

See other post, I figured that "hawker center" was like a universal term for a collection of street vendors like a food court.

Guess I'll just shut up and go back to my cave.

I get what your trying to say now but you dont see much of the street vendor type of food in Tokyo.

Mike an FIY, Japan does not barter for prices like a lot of other asian countries do.
