Check craigslist

It's full of shit. I thought of checking craigslist far before I ever posted this thread, everything within a 200 mile radius. It's beat up Craftsman junk from the late 80s, people who insist on selling their god-awful tool collection WITH their box, or overpriced "slightly used" stuff.

I'll keep checking no doubt. But my only option isn't showing up to sketch-ball garages to look at shitty tool boxes because they wouldn't post a picture. Screw that.

Snap On here. I know a tech that moved up here with his snappy double bank filled to the hilt with tools and it rolled out of the u-haul truck and hit the ground. Other than a dent the box was fine and all the drawers worked perfectly. Do that with a HF box.

I have a two-stack HF box. It served me okay for a few years, and it is still okay - but it is a rinky-dinky piece of shit. It came badly mangled straight out of the carton, so I spent an extra hour banging it back to shape.

Sears boxes make a better first impression, but they are made from the same stuff. Costco seems to have a good one - probably the same as Sam's Club offering.

A tool box only works if you actually put your tools back in it. I suffer from leave-my shit-everywhere-itis.

This may surprise a lot of you, but between laying down clean newspaper on the lift rails and stopping about once an hour to put my tools away has made finding what I need very easy.

The comfort of knowing you can find what you need, and being able to tell pretty quickly what is missing reduces ones anxiety immediately.

There are days where I'll find myself becoming stupidly frustrated and stopping to clean up returns me to my zen-like state (of course Adderall gets a LOT of credit as well).

I often weigh into toolbox and storage discussions because it is something I take more seriously than any other organizational aspect of my life. My office could be cleaned with a leaf blower and wood chopper, but I can damn sure find my tools when I want them!

My next step is FOD inserts for my front-line tools, I look forward to a home for everything and everything in its own little foam or wooden home!

I too need a nice storage solution however my space is limited. Im not about to spend close to a grand on something to hold my tools. everything I see on craigs around me looks like hell and has no discount in price.

X2 For both the zen-like state and Adderall helping.

Sadly, I don't have a garage, but am getting ready to build one hell of a big shed/small shop...

The Adderall is John Robison's fault. When I finally met him in person (After his offering me the job of GM of his shop over the phone and never having met yet) one of the first things he said to me was that he was certain I too had ASD.

Sure enough, I got screened, was diagnosed as having ADD-and a most extreme case at that. Since then, Adderall has been a part of my daily life, a major improvement to my daily life!

I recently had a stroke of inspiration about this... I think I'm gonna keep my eyes open for an old library card catalogue.

don't be surprised when you see the price...those are collectors items and fetch a pretty penny.

I have a Craftsman combo, ball bearing slides, that I really like. Not the cheap stuff, but the better box with the grip latches and big drawers. I also have a Snap On/Blue Point rollaway in LR Green that I used when I am moving outside the garage or to different vehicles, and I can keep my spring compressor and drill and whatnot in the bottom of it.

I'm determined to keep track of my tools because when I think about how many I've lost due to storing them in my floorboards, it makes me sick. A $700 box will pay for itself in 2 years with me, simply because I'll avoid replacing so many damn tools.

Went to sears yesterday, wasn't impressed. I'm leaning towards the more expensive line of Kobalt, just having a hard time finding a lowes that stocks them.

Craigslist has been a bust for me. Check daily within a 200 mile radius, all overpriced junk.

Call your local tool truck guys and ask them what they have for sale in that price range.
