You're off to a good start, but something about the front looks off. The rear of the rack needs to come back further so that it doesn't look like someone installed a D1 rack on a DII.

Front will be addressed tomorrow. Rear upper tube is about 1-1.5" inside inside the roof line.

And I will make a length specific D2 version once I get a few things ironed out, approx. 6-3/4" longer.

Thank you for the comments

I totally agree, the lines of the lower bar with the upwards curve totally go against the lines of the truck

I concur with Frank and Jimmie. Your headed in the rite direction.

Well I'm not the typical fabricator... I don't get pissed and throw a tantrum when EVERYONE thinks something different from me. :D Critique is what makes a product great IMO.

I'm new to Rovers and REALLY like the feedback. Makes the next guy that buys something from me happy and I get free visual consultations from guys that have been around and seen a plethora of styles over the years

Thanks all and I'll post more tomorrow. Its just time and tube!

I would bring the rearmost bend back further and try to match the angle of the D pillars.

The whole thing seems a little off. I'm not sure if he was trying to be different and not use the same style as the SD and Voyager Racks. Or if he just had a couple of pieces left over from a basket rack that he was trying to re-purpose. Either way it does not look like it was designed for the truck but rather just retrofitted to make it work for it.

Here is the revision and where it will stay until the jig is made to address a couple of other things. Need to bring the lower front bar down approx. 5/8", change the angle about 5 degrees should get it where it needs to be.

Thanks all,

Jason

Anymore tweaks and I might as well just copy a Baja, Voyager etc.. and build a full basket into the top. However, unless a customer wants a full basket, I'll never build one. They are too tall and bulky, IMO. I personally don't like to be restricted by the upper rail surround.

Jason

Well you aren't exactly doing anything original with the backpack rack. A full SD style rack without the sides is a good idea. Making the proportions awkward to keep it 'original' is a bad idea. Safety Devices and Voyager make racks that match the body lines. I just googled the Baja rack, and that looks like shit.
