Last ditch effort to save my D1 with 190,000 miles
Here are the symptoms:
When cold the trans will shift into all four gears without a problem. After about 4 or five blocks at speed, the trans will drop from OD into 3rd.
Within a about 10 to 20 seconds it then shifts from 3rd to 2nd. Once this happens third gear will only engage every now and then and only for a 20 seconds or so.
Once the trans in warmed up no matter what the RPMs, it will not shift back into 3rd or OD.
Work I've done:
Full trans flush (no change)
Pulled the pan and the trans filter (pan dirty as hell, filter didn't look all that bad.)
Only found a small amount of metal "dust" in the bottom of the pan.
Does anyone here think the valve block could be bad or sticking? Can trans places test a valve block once I take it out? What other suggestions do you guys have, I don't want my truck to go the the boneyard. Please help.
