Trans temp light came on during a trail-ride

All day I had the light coming back on, anytime I was in a low-speed, throttle on, situation. If I let the truck sit, or if I cruised down the road then the light would go out.

I'd be curious if you find the root cause for this. I had the same thing recently. Been running trails pretty much every weekend the whole summer. No light. Then out of the blue last month the light came on. It was a cool day and I don't thing the trail was that hard. I pulled over and let it idle for a bit and it went away.
Haven't seen it since. However it was a bit of a shock and got me thinking about whether I should change the tranny oil.
I use my left foot on the brake most alot so wondering if that contributed.
Since both transmission and transfer case are on the smae light it's tough to tell which one caused it.
I'm tempted the replace both with gauges and go from there.

On my 99 d2 the only time I've seen the light is when I lug it in high range. Soft sand or mud in high range trips the light easy. May be heat generated by the torque converter. Low range never a problem (so far).

Interestingly thats the exact conditions I was in when it first came on. Later in the day it came on in low-range also.

Can water do this? Mine has never come on, but we're on like our 5th day of rain and I've been up to the bumper in it. It's cool and I'm just driving around on the streets.
