Between searching and looking in the ETM I think I'm fine installing a '95 transfer gearbox (from a D90 w/R380) in to a '97 Disco w/auto without having to change any wiring and just there won't be any transfer interlock "safety".
True?

sounds good to me. there might be one or two plug variations, but thats no big deal. and you'll have to transfer the speedo sensor over too.

Wasn't there something about older discoveries having a different output shaft on the transmission? Maybe it's just for automatics.

not sure about the discos, but the early rangies didnt have the splines machined as far on the tranny output shaft or some crap like that.

Are the LT230 input seals on the manual and automatic the same? Both my parts book and Microcat lists only one (FRC2365), but looking online some sites list it as "transfer input seal, manual transmission".
I tried to measure the shaft diameters but can't get my micrometer close enough on the ZF to measure the surface the seal rides on.

If not the same, anyone have PN for a locally sourced transfer input seal for an automatic?
