How do you check transmission fluid on a D2?? I can't for the life of me find the dipstick, and there is nothing in the manual about it (that I can find)

that's crap, I've gotten a trans temp light on a few times in the past few months, and I was hoping to be able to check the level easily.

I just serviced my ******, and I filled up while it was running in park until I just had a slight amount of oil dripping from the fill plug so everything should be fine. My question is, earlier in the day before I got everything straightened out, I ran out of new fluid while filling up, without thinking I turned the truck off to go and head up to autozone to buy some more, and the oil started pouring out of the fill plug hole, so I turned it on again really quick and it was fine (had to top it off). I think this makes sense sinse all of the oil is going to go rushing back into the pan when you shut it off, but I just want somebody to confirm that.

I am still waiting for someone to try and fit a DI oil pan and dipstick to a DII and let me know if it fits. Also if anyone out there wants to send me a free used oil pan and dipstick from a DI I will do a picture write up for the site!! (if it works)

yes thats why you check trannies in N while they are cold...the only thing I dont like about those directions is they say park.

you say cold, but do you mean right after starting it before it warms up?

the pan will overfill if you turn the truck off. thats the same for almost every car. what happens is that the converter and valve body all drains back to the pan.

if some one does this they might want to fill it useing the D2 way then check on the dipstick just to make the level is the same!
