Go back to the guy who gave you that quote and ask him why it costs more to have him do it than to get one factory rebuilt.

You guys all know that I avoid personal attacks, but in this case, I don't know if the vehicle owner is stupid or the guy making the quote is a crook, but one of them is the case.

I'm not the owner of the truck with the dead transmission.

I can however, sell him a reman transmission, or install it for him.

If I never put another trans in an LR3 it will be too soon. The LR4 and Sport with the 5.0 is worse. Talk about 15 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag. That shit is in there.

Change the fluid regularly. They don't fail often.

If it makes you feel any better, I've only done one LR3 transmission, and it failed because the torque converter bolts came loose.
