We have reengineered our rod end Steering system and thoroughly tested them and they are ready to sell. These are a true bolt in Heim Joint steering setup, NO DRILLING anything. The rod end adaptor bolts into the stock Rover taper and the rod end is fastened to this.

The new system uses a FK Bearing 3/4" rod end that is tied to either a 1.25"o.d. .187" wall DOM for our standard kit or 1.5" o.d - .25" wall DOM for our Hostile Duty kit. We offer the complete kit or just the parts to use with your own steering bars. The complete kit comes with the folowing items-

4) Painless heim adaptors
4) High-Misalignment spacers
4) 3/4" FK rod ends (2 LH, 2 RH)
4) Rod end jam nuts
4) 5/8" safety washers
1) Drag link
1) Tie rod
1) DII style damper bracket (for drag link)
1) DII style damper relocation bracket (these are included for RRC, DI or Defender kits)

Optional items include-

DI style pitman arm (refurbished) $30 Required for early RRC and some Defenders.
OME DII damper (new) call for pricing

The complete standard kit sells for $587.76 + shipping
It is available for RRC, DI, DII, P-38 and Defender.
It comes with all of the parts listed above with 1.25"o.d. DOM steering bars.

The Hostile Duty kit sells for $625.00 + shipping
It is available for RRC, DI, DII and Defender (tie rod will not clear the diff on a P-38)
It comes with all of the parts listed above with 1.5" o.d. DOM steering bars. Our system has a lower centerline that allows the 1.5" tie rod to clear the diff and QT diff guards without contact.

The Painless heim adaptors are guaranteed for life in either kit. We have put them through the paces and could not bend them, but if you do we will send you a replacement, all you pay is shipping of the new part.
The Hostile Duty steering bars are also guaranteed and if you bend them, we will send you a replacement, all you pay is shipping of the new part.

We are donating a set to CROC for the Spring Safari, I'm not going to make it this year so I'm sending it up with some t-shirts. If anyone is interested in giving me an idea of what model to send up let me know in this thread. If the winner does not have the model Rover that I send up, CROC will give them a gift certificate and they can redeem it for the one they need.

If you don't need the whole kit then call for pricing on individual parts.

Thanks, Denny

The adapters themselves are some of the most obsessively engineered aftermarket parts ever to be released within the community. The amount of time and care that's been poured into them has been very impressive for such a low-volume aftermarket offering.

For their purpose, they are as elegant and refined a solution as can be had.

:applause:

I need an ed-u-ma-cation on why/what & for what type of usage, makes this setup so good (I realize regular oem stuff is stiffled by bean-counters). I'm not being sarcastic but seriously looking to understand.

With these parts, you have an idiot-proof way of using spherical rod ends on your vehicle without having to butcher anything, thus painlessly opening up a vast range of possibilities for durable and flexible steering concepts and configurations.

Importantly, this solution is also a wonderful investment in quality and professionally made parts that allow your vehicle to grow as your needs increase, without forcing you into difficult choices involving a permanent configuration. You can remove them at any time without preventing re-installation of the factory system.

That's why this is so good. :)

So I looked around on the HCL website and saw a pic of a D1 (rhd with the heim setup?).http://www.hlcfab.com/index2.php

So it looks like the heims allow the use of the drag rod at extreme angles due to suspension lift, without having to modify how the drag rod ends attach from the drop arm to the steering knuckle. Did I get it right :D ?

True Bolt in Heim Jointed steering system Revision

We have looked at the design of the components for the adaptors and have made a few changes that improve the overall look of the parts and also improve the performance and simplify the set up. The adaptors and mis-alignment spacers are now cadium plated for an improved finish. The lengths of the adaptors have had minor adjustments made to the demensions to improve the movement and prevent any parts making contact. The last change was made to the mis-alignment spacer by incorporating the safety washer into the piece to simplify the assembly.

We will also sell these pieces individually if you are building your own steering bars or already have a set.
