Hi there! I recently purchased my Disco (Emma, 96, 4.0, auto, 145K) and it is my first LR. Gonna give her a fresh tune up and am looking for suggestions as to the parts that perform best on these beasts. Her wires are in poor repair and she's got those cheap a$$ Bosch split-fires planted in her. All you veteran LR owners.....what's the best you've found to maximize your economy/performance?

She's rollin on 235/70/16s...can I go to a 245 or even a 255 without causing issues? I just wanna pick her up off the groud a bit, and don't have the time (or wifey go-ahead :banghead: ) to get her lifted right now. I'm planning on BFG A/T's, or BFG Radial Long Trail T/A's (not as aggressive). I plan on some light to moderate wheelin, but for now this is first and foremost my DD.

While I'm at it...with the mileage this high, should I run all synthetic fluids?

I'm used to Nissan and Toyota's...145K is just gettin warmed up for them...from what I've read on here, that's not always the case for a D1.

Anything specific to LR D1's that I should check while I've got her down? The water and oil are both free of contamination, and the only leak I have is exhaust. She runs and drives smooth, no vibrations or out of the ordinary noises...for $1500, I couldn't pass it up!

Thanks so much!!

I'm not trying to bust your chops here buddy, someone else will gladly do that for me, but one thing that will get you torn up on this board pretty quick is asking questions without searching first.

Search first, ask questions later.

This is not a feel-good happy forum ... you're going to get unadulterated honesty and truth about what you ask, say, or think. Sometimes it will feel hostile but it's not - believe me, folks here are fanatical about their trucks and don't waste or mince words with folks who are too lazy to help themselves.

Do more reading than you have and you'll be better off. I'd wait on posting anything else until you've spent a few days pouring through the archives. If you've got a question, chances are pretty good it's been asked and answered.

My two cents, good luck :)

That is one of the first things i did and i think thats a good start. Stick with the sythetic also because of the high miles. I personally like the valvoline sythetic but i also know the mobil 1 sythetic is a good choice.
