I found a set of Old Man Emu springs if my friends basement and ran out the door with them after I gave him 50 bucks. I am having some trouble getting the old shock and spring of my 96 Disco. Do you undo the bolts by the axle or unscrew the shock from the top. Anyone have any tips for this job? I did run over to Auto Zone and got the correct spring compressor. Any help would be great. Thanks

Thanks but how do I get the old shock off. Is it better to disconnect from the top or bottom down by the axle? Both bolts are evil:banghead: I have tried both with no success.

On the fronts, take the nuts off the bottom of the shocks and the nuts of the shock tower. Slide the shocks still attached to the towers upwards in the engine bay. Replace spring.

On the rear, be very careful not to break the stud bolts on the top shock mounts. I actually used a torch and melted the nylon out of the inside of the lock nuts. This was after I learned the hard time the first time around. Cranked away on those nuts and broke both sides off.

Remove the swaybars, so that the axles will drop once the shocks are removed.
