Used Rover

My wife and I are looking at used Range Rover. We have about 13k to spend on our new Rover and have found many possibilities. We found 2 last weekend one is a 2001 SE and the other is a 99 HSE. Is it best to get a 99 on a p38 with more miles or go with the 2001 because it is newer? What are some things you would look for when purchasing a used Rover? Thanks for help

You should be able to get either for less than 13K. P38's are cool but I would go for the 2001.

Watcha going to use it for? Road or road/trail? Earlier P38's have goofy electronics. If you just want a truck for the road I'd go to Bear Valley and get a really nice late Classic. Sure, they're a bit on the expensive side, but Bill & co have sweet Rovers.

If you want a trail ride, get a Disco.......there's not much equipment for a P38 that isn't custom &, therefore $$$$$.

I have a Disco and love it. Getting ready to build it out this winter. The Range Rove is going to be my recovery truck. Don't tell my wife . :Banane57:

How so? Specifics, please....

Poor fuse box design, weak EAS, BeCMs that randomly fail, remote locking receivers that don't go to sleep and kill the battery, coolant and windscreen washer leaks that cause truck to burn up, complicated heaters and heater core o-rings that leak, electric seats that mysteriously blow fuses.

Want more?

Yes, but doesn't that pertain to all P38's? That was my point...I haven't heard of a big difference in electronic problems spanning all years of P38s.
