definitely remove the baffles. its amazing how much gunk builds up in there. i find an impact driver is an easy way to bust the screws loose and yes i use blue loctite upon installation. a scraper, wire wheel and solvent tank make all this a quick job :D

Remove the plates and clean them, loctite is over kill on the screws. If you read correctly in rave it says something like remove valve cover bolts and discard them. Then with the assembly is says something like use new patched valve cover bolts. "Patched" I assume is thread locker aka loctite, so use some blue stuff on the valve cover bolts.

There is no patch-lock on new genuine bolts.

So I installed the new gaskets today. So far so good. They're definitely different than the Felpro gaskets. They have a groove in them that allows the valve cover to actually fit inside of the gasket. It ended up taking me about 3 1/2 hrs to do it this time and that's including removing the baffles and cleaning the inside of the covers. I sure hope this solves the leak issue.

New gaskets are installed and the leaks have stopped :D . The gaskets were Beck/Arnley and on the package it said they were manufactured in Great Britain.

This Old Thread (that could be a youtoob show) is ever more relevant with age.

Is there a consensus on what brand, type, style, configuration, material is working the best these days, for valve covers? I need to change mine out again (has it been 10 years already?) I see a felpro link up there, and a mention of the cheapness of Victor Reinz (a Spicer part number 71-35524-10, btw, e.g. https://www.danaaftermarket.com/search?cat1=LVB&y=1995&mk=Land Rover&md=Discovery&ymmType=AUTO) gaskets. That surprises me; I'd think dana/spicer makes decent stuff. Anyways.. I am really looking for recent experience with any particular brands and combinations (sealer, anti-crush inserts, etc) and links to where they can be found :)
For me, this is for my 1995 Disco1 NAS 3.9 14cux R380 wagon.
