Greetings!
Need some ideas on a problem with my 02 DISCO II SD with ~52K, have detected a vibration under load at approximately 2500rpm or greater.
Have recently completed the following repairs or upgrades:

- Installed a Great Basin Rover rebuilt front drive shaft
- Installed a Old Man Emu steering dampener
- Installed DBA rotors and Kevlar brake pads front and back
- New stock Michelins
- Seafoam flush, great results by the way!
- Transmission filter and fluid changed
- Diffs and transaxle fluid changed
- Greased where required
- New belt tensioner and idler pulley

Motor mounts and rubber coupling on rear shaft looks good. Not sure when the vibration started, but I did not detect the vibration prior to installing the drive shaft and steering dampener.

Q1.) Is there any special alignment of the front shaft that is required during installation?

Q2.) Is there a way to safely drive a 02 without a front drive shaft?

Any suggestions!

Thanks!:banghead:

Good questions, yes I did go through all the gears when refilling the tranny. Will inspect the rear u-join again. The rotoflex was my first suspect, but it looks good to me.

without a cdl it won't move with a drive shaft missing.

There isn't any alignment during installation, but there is during assembly. If the yokes aren't aligned, the joints will bind a little. If the problem showed up when the shaft was installed, it may be the problem. I guess it's a 2-piece shaft, but I'd have to go out and look under my truck to be sure. If so, the spline may be off a tooth (or more).
