I got a sg bumper for my d2 that has a warn winch with a viking rope on it. PO said his dog chewed the hook off. I have the hook. Viking sells a rope repair kit for 45 bucks, have any of you used it? Any other ideas for fixing this?

You just need to splice it. Not knockin' their kit, but, just trim up your line and resplice it.... Their kit is nice, but, basically, you're paying for the fids; you already have tape, something to cut with, etc., and you can download the splicing directions from Sampson, so just make a fid.
you could also send it to Peter Sherman and have him splice it for you and end up with a great splice done by someone that has been splicing these super lines for decades.
you dont want a crappy fix holding your hook on, and although you may be able to do a acceptable job why not have it done really well?
