In the process of changing my radiator and I can't get the damn fan off (Changing my Serp Belt also)I rented the tools but where in the H-E-\_\_ does this second wrench go to hold the "pulley" Man, it's tight in there. I have the wrench on the fan nut but what do I attach the second wrench to keep the serp belt from turning?? or would I be benefited if I use a strap wrench and remove the old serp belt?? Thanks in advance!

How to get your fan off in less than 30 seconds.

Preferred method: use a dull flat bit on an air chisel--put it on the flat part of the nut perpendicular to the fan, pull the trigger.

Secondary method: substitute a big-ass flathead screwdriver and a hammer for the air chisel.

very quick, very easy, and you get to beat on something.

No, you will not damage the nut. Don't hit it like you're trying to bust a sidewalk with a jackhammer and all will be cool.

how about the water pump bearing, Alex?

I thought it went without saying that you angle your chisel to spin the nut off, as opposed to runing it at 90 degrees to the flat like you were trying to split the nut. Give it a try. It spins off with very little effort, even without power tools. The air chisel just makes it a one-handed operation.

I just used the wrench from Napa, and a big hammer method....worked wonders. Less than 30 seconds from start to finish.

Put wrench on wack it with the hammer... fan came off.

P.T., nothing beats big honkin' channel locks. I had good luck just squeezing the belt together by the other hand to stop the pulley from turning - but that was with the V-belt.
