Anyone ever see or use one of Warn's new PowerPlant? Dual Force HD winches? I'd love to know what some folks that have used it think of them.. Looks pretty cool if it actually works like Warn says it does.

12,000lb winch with a 5cfm at 90psi air flow.

Saw one on a RTE bumper mounted to a D2 in Texas. There was less than 1/4" from the the top of the winch to the bottom of the hood.

They are huge. I would be surprised if enough air got by it to keep a rover cool. Cool idea though, and for some people it may be a great winch.

That thing is an answer to a question no one asked.

What advantage can it possibly offer over two independent systems for winch and onboard air?

Well, it could save some space.. sort of.. However, I was thinking it would be more useful as a rear winch in a buggy or some thing of that nature where you have the space, well, where you at least wouldn't be worried about airflow... I could see where it would have some uses..

Judging by the photos; I am DEFINITELY worried about air flow. To The Radiator !!! I would definitely be worried about overheating issues in southern or western heat, on long trail rides.

Well, I'm not thinking about getting one, certainly not for the front anyways.. I'm just wondering if they actually really work.. Would be better then one of those viairs and the like at least from a CFM stand point.. Although, an oasis would be a better option for a little bit less $$.. It's not some thing that I need either way.. Just curiosity really.

On the standpoint of reliability and maitenance/replaceability I would get a standard winch plus a separate compressor. I think looking at the price you could do both separate cheaper too.

Not that the truck pictured is from Texas or anything.......

I asked the guy about cooling problems. He said all is well. He's also running like 33x12.50 swampers. So, the motor is getting a little more strain than most would.

thats my thought exactly.. and they are both things that can be tempermental and need to be maintained. now you have them tied together? it doesnt make sense, if your roast the winch motor, your out a compressor and if the compressor goes to toast your stuck with this big stupid useless thing on your front bumper. keep them seperate..

Gee Dan...We were thinking the same thing for once. lol. Thanks for asking him the question. At least now we have the answer. I wonder if it says more about the designed aerodynamics of the powerplant, or about Rovers cooling capabilities on-trail. ???

Yah sort of like a TV with built in VCR or DVD player.
