Water features in your yard?

At the old house, I had a 15 X 32 swimming pool stocked with goldfish that became huge!

The new house has a nice 1/8 acre pond with a fountain and HUGE goldfish I threw in it late last year. The fountain keeps the algae down without chemical intervention and the goldfish keep the mosquitos down (those who survive in the turbulent water).

We've begun piling rocks on one side in anticipation of building a naturalized waterfall maybe next spring.

The only water feature is when my big ass dog does his thing on the lawn... ever see how much water a Great Dane can leave on one spot?

Ol'Drippy, I had 5 guys help me, since it took about 9 tons of boulders and lots of digging to create my waterfalls/water feature. There are also companies here in California that will build them if you don't want to do it yourself (e.g. http://www.alliancewaterscapes.com/). But it's not that difficult, and you can get all the recirculating pumps, liners, etc. on the web. Ray

Actually the coolest back yard water feature I have seen was at Jim Newman's home aka (TheRoverGroup) He has a jungle scene with old abandoned SII a it was pulling a Airstream and broke down. The Trailer was converted to a pool cabana. Really cool sculptured rocks and tons of exotic plants, even a palm growing through the engine bay... A real professional pool and theme back yard... Very cool

You just HAD to suggest this, didn't you?

To think I used to like you!

PT

:D What a cool idea!

LOL, last night Mrs. PT was complaining about the puppy (the peeingest dog on the planet, he must have a two quart bladder!) killing the grass (I didn't tell her it was probably me pissing on the dog turds to make them go away!).

We are now rotating which door we let the dogs out from! We start each morning at one door and move around the sunroom as the day progresses. The yard does green up nicely when it finally rains though. Might be too much nitrogen if it doesn't rain, but add some rain and it moves around and everything green is happy!

Sorry no pictures, I no longer live in San Diego, and its been years since ive been there.

3 years or so ago there was a write up in one of the LR trade rags featuring his yard....

Serious It's way cool the ultimate Land Rover Junkie Yard... I told him to tint the water green, I don't think he went that far

Whats even worse he has a couple 110 a 4,6 a DII ad RRS and a RRC plus a collection of very cool 2 wheel toys...

"not a big freestanding out of place type thing." was what I said back when I didn't know what I was doing...

This is out of place, kinda sorta, but I'm digging it.. Lots and lots of work but it is almost done

Be sure to watch it in High Quality.. Later.. Drip

"Sorta" out of place? It looks rediculous.

A miniature waterfall from out of nowhere? I suppose if you are trying to drown out the sound of kids in the adjacent trailer park, it would work.

Maybe I should try putting in some fake Joshua trees in my yard or life-like Steve Young's patrolling the parimeter of my property.

Funny.......
I just spent the day replacing the liner in mine and I still can't find where it is leaking from?

Ahhhh........

:banghead:

......and all I got from the the other half is "it doesn't look level" and "I told you to put rocks in the bottom first!"

I made a waterless pond in my back yard to compliment the white painted turned inside out flower tire in the front but neighbor kids kept falling in it and everyone said without water it's just a hole so I filled it in.
