I am starting to realize that a wedding consists of a lot more than I thought. My bride to be is deciding to go all out, its kind of scary. Hints? Tips? Advice?

Her Family is paying, but I dont like to see them put out $10k for a wedding.

Have 30-60min of socializing (cocktails?) before the actual ceremony. Don't state this on the invite, just say the wedding starts at X:XX.

Hmmm, I like that. Do people get pissed if the bride and groom leave the reception early?

I try to avoid weddings at all costs. My fourth wife says they really don't suit me. And I'm running out of bedrooms for them to sleep in.

I've seen wedding dresses go for $15,000...if you can do the wedding for $10K, consider that a deal!

Yeah just nod a lot and if she waffles between two decisions for more than 10 minutes pick the one on the left. Oh and insist on pictures before hand, she will huff and puff but nothing is more annoying for guests than having to wait two hours for pictures before you can eat.

I am in the planning stages also man! We rented a place that does all in one which cut down our cost. Her family is paying a lot of it and my family is cover some of it... Right now with the 180 guest( both of us have LARGE families) we are looking at 12,000 for everything. We did spend a fair amount on the photographer but that was something we felt was important..... We also booked early to get prices for now and not down the road... In just the one year the place we chose doubled....Glad we did that! We are taking pic before the ceremy also!

When my friend Jon was married imagine a wedding reception of 3500 people including the Gov. of Ca, Senators, a few Reps and Buck Owens was one of the bands that day. His sister and brother's weddings were almost as insane.

I've never really understood why some folks feel like they have to spend gobs of money on a wedding. And if the couple is young, it's even crazier. If parents want to celebrate their kids future happiness, put the money towards a house for them.

be prepared that with even plenty of lead time and plenty of planning and preparing, something will go wrong. just roll with it.

and don't ask how much she spent on her dress.
