What a Difference!

The 4.6 conversion in my 99D2 is done. What a difference in performance! It almost makes me forget I need to get gears. Almost. If you have the means I highly recommend it.

just buy a D2.....select models come with the 4.6 professionally installed.

Not really, it has the same block, intake, heads, cam. The crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons are the only differences.

If you buy a 4.6 to convert from the 4.0, don't you need the 4.6 ecm?

I'll add that moving from a 4.0 to a cam'd 4.6 may be the biggest bang for the buck for fuel economy.

Sounds counterintuitive but realistically the 4.0 is just too small for a 4500# vehicle. You have your foot into a 4.0 too much.
