The Lou!
I am sooooo hitting a dirty martini with 3 huge almond stuffed olives.

With my girlfriend trying to talk me into buying a house and having a mortgage payment again I'm gonna need more than vodka.

Well, when we went to France, we went to wineries mostly in Burgundy, but drank quite a bit of Cotes du Rhone at dinner when we were in Nice and Avignon. I think it is the hidden gem of French wine. Everybody knows about Bordeaux, almost everybody knows about Burgundy, but hardly anybody knows about Cotes du Rhone.

Since we got back, I've been trying to find some over here, but obviously the selection isn't that great. I can go into Costco and have a choice of 15-20 different Bordeaux, but I can find only a few Cotes du Rhone around. There doesn't seem to be the demand over here, but all of the ones that I've been able to find here have been decent to really good.

Mike, do you find it the same as in France?
...

It can only be French wine. Just like Champagne, if it's from anywhere else it has to be called sparkling wine, Champagne has to come from the Champagne region. Same for calling any wine a Rhone blend, if it's not from the Rhone region you can't call it Rhone. Wineries have gotten into trouble over this. The winery I work for got busted on this one.

Enjoy the Glenlivet!
