Code P1179 says that there's a problem with the "AMFR"
WTF?
Can anyone please help me translate that so I know where to start looking for problems?

I"m pretty sure MAF ≠ AMFR.
What does AMFR mean?

Clean your MAF sensor out with MAF cleaner, reset code, and see what it does. You can buy the stuff at Autozone.

Many thanks guys! MAF cleaner pruchased, will clean tomorrow! I'll give my K&N a good cleaning then too. it's not quite due yet, but couldn't hurt.

Dont over oil it, otherwise it'll happen again

True, I usually put on just enough to coat it, not saturate it for that very reason.
My guess is the truck is almost 13 years old, and it's probably never been done. So I'll pull the MAF out and give it a good proper cleaning and it should be good to go for another few years.

The problem can also come from the oil you put on the K&N Filter. Its known to get onto a MAF sensor and mess it up. So go light on the *oil cleaning* On the K&N
