No such thing. All the guys/girls who actually know anything about guns and how to use them are in the field using them not talking on a gun forum.:D

lol, I try and get out and shoot at least once every other week, but when I decide I like a gun, I like to be able to do a little research... and I like seeing what other people do to their own guns... I want to get a couple more handguns, and then move into the rifle area.

I was just messing with ya. I'm sure there are plenty out there. Some of the competition folk probably have forums. IPSC, IDPA, Steal Challenge. Might check out the three gun match guys.:patriot:

The High Road is okay, as is the bulletin board for Gary Reeder Custom Guns. Lots of individual makes have forums dedicated to them.

Too often on some boards I'm reminded of why I didn't enjoy working at a gun shop as much as I should have: gunshop kommandos who are self-annointed experts.

Remember that if you look hard enough you can find someone who has had a problem with a particular model.

Find some examples that you like the looks of, test fire, and go with the one that you feel the most comfortable with. Are you looking to add some 'fun' guns or 'social' guns?

At your mom's
http://www.thehighroad.org/

Good info here, buried in a shitload of blahblahblah. It's pretty heavily moderated to keep zombies and politics talk to a minimum, sign up to use the search feature. Crappy info is usually called out as "one's opinion", and somtimes posters are a little too polite, but safety and shooting are the main objecticve.

The Firing Line is (http://www.thefiringline.com/) is decent, from what I've seen. Decent, meaning there are folks who know what they're talking about who post regularly. I usually go there just following a link from some other place.

Both have been around for years and get hundreds of posts per day.
You can rarely find a gun forum without a good load of Constitutional Liberaterians bouncing around waving banners, and a light smattering of 15 year olds who shot their uncle's glock, and now pretend to be former Marine snipers.

There are a ton of model specific places, ar15.com
(aka ARFCOM), glocktalk, hipowersandhandguns, s&w boards, etc; where you can find the batshit crazy - mall ninja - operator trolls.

There is a 22 rimfire forum, the name escapes me, that had just a pantload of good info. EDIT TO ADD - rimfire central.

Have fun, take it all with a grain of salt, keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction, and come back here and ask if you need to confirm anything.

The above posts are correct. Those are the exact reasons I hate even going into a gun store. I try and do all my purchases direct or through the web if applicable.

drunk, in a bar(alvin,texas)
there are a few that i frequent & i'll give a short list with a brief description of my opinion of the forum.

accurate reloading probably the best big bore and gunsmithing forum on the net. many of the worlds top builders show off there work there. very loose moderation. they also host a big bore shoot twice a year at the range i belong to and i've met around 50 of the members and shot quite a few of their rifles. they are a fine bunch of people.

gunboards a bunch of wacko purists that i drive crazy with my custom rifle projects.

nitro express.com this site is really useful for doing research on prewar sporting rifles and is one of the few with a section for lee speed sporting rifles

mauser central decent site

the high road.org
the entertainment value of this site is what keeps me coming back, morons and clueless idiots with guns would be a better fitting name

curio and relic firearms forum good laid back site that i just happen to be a mod on.

parallax bill

if bill & the most of the mods there weren't such pricks about custom rifles it could be a decent site

Thanks for the info... I may try the sig sight since the majority of my stuff is Sig, and it has other stuff as well, and move on as I need to.

Hey Robert, Yeah I have a 556 SWAT with a Trijicon ACOG and a 556 pistol (just bought that) with a EOH 551 (got a deal on it). I don't use the standard Sig mags however, but have gone to the Magpul mags with the better spring follower. They seem to work much better, not that I ever had any issues with the others, just the Sig board listed lots of folks that had jamming issues, and I didn't want to fuss with those. Thinking about buying a Springfield SOCOM II, but need to do a little more research, but I like the fact that it's a .308.

Resurrection. I'm looking into purchasing the Sig 556 Swat fairly soon. Phil, how do you like it? Right now, they're about $1,200 at my local dealer.
