Can we start a sub-thread like who has the coolest or most unusual job? I need some ideas for future career endeavors!! :)

I'm an Assistant Director for Graduate Admissions at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. PHEW-basically I'm working on the computer and phones right now during the recruiting season and heading out once or twice a week for events.

so if the server goes down, productivity goes up?

Absolutely, you noticed how earlier in the year the fed was confident enough about the "economic recovery" that they could raise rates. Ever since Dweb was up and running we have seen a small rally in the bond market and fears that the "recovery" isn't as strong. Coincidence perhaps, but we all know better :D

Trying to develop some of ideas and somehow they almost never relate to computers ... hmm, maybe I should get MBA after graduation :D

...Which means I play with databases and computer mapping software all day. I also serve as support staff to the city's Emergency Operations Center, which means I've spent the last 6 weeks all puckered up waitning for Hurricane Bonnie-Charlie-Frances-Ivan-Jeanne to destroy my city!!

Civil Engineer designing roads to insure utah has no more offroad areas. :(

I actually had something to do with a subdivision that cut off some great trails in Bountiful and Farmington. It has real some steep terrain and I designed the sewer and storm drains. Fun design problem, too bad it cut off trails, but thats progress for you. :(

Soon to be a student, (spring 2005) I want to study Engineering and Bio-Ethics. Get a PHD, you know become a professional student so I can get the student season ski pass out here in Utah's resorts. ;)

I would much rather be in the field every day but it is tough to draw on a job site, so, D-web helps kill the office hours :D

Good thread Peter!

I work at a software company (NetDocuments) doing technical support and software testing.

I do that to pay for school. I am finishing my undergrad at the University of Utah in Biology and Psychology and plan to go onto Medical school here in about a year and a half.
