Ok so I think I have one of the only '01 Disco SE's that doesnt have SLS or ACE or any of that. I guess its really a good thing since I'm not used to all those gadgets. Anyway...

I have 800 bucks that I want to spend on the landy right now and Im trying to decide what to get first

1) LR genuine roof rack
2) OME 3" (or another lift if anyone wants to chime in)
3) TJM T-15

Which should I do first??? Any other ideas? I am still trying to sell myself on the fact that I want to pull the nice looking factory bumper.

TIA

Well, what do u want to do with it? if you NEED extra space, get the rack, if you NEED the extra height, get the lift (but a 3" lift with stock tyres is gay :D ), and if you NEED front protection, get the TJM.

I dont actually need any of it :D I can wheel just fine without any of it, but....

Winter is coming on up here in Maine and I got money burning a hole in my pocket. I actually dont have stock tires ;) I got the biggest that would fit stock without rubbing.

Winter in Maine? $800? If I were in ME with an extra $800 I'd get a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires.
But that's just me.

not really worried about the snow tire thing. I spent all last winter driving my other truck. An 85 4runner on 38.5s. Sorta like driving a really big roller skate!

take the bumper off sell it get the cash add it to the money you have, get the bumper and the lift, then maybe you could sell the old suspension components and have some money to put in for tires.

buy a used Subaru Outback so you'll have something to drive when the Disco breaks. :D
Yeah, I know I'm just trolling...

CDL is a big chunk of change, so if you have some cash laying about that needs a place to go...

Take the money and buy a high lift jack and some recovery gear. Why buy the other stuff if you really don't needed it. At least with high lift jack and recovery gear you can pull out all of the H2's and other SUV's that get stuck in the snow.

I did recovery gear first, then T-15, then Safety Device Rack [Found it local for a good price], next is HD shocks/springs.

Keep in mind, if you get the T-15, buy the winch mounting tray so you can mount some recovery points on it. Search the forum for more information about TJM recovery points.

I don't think $800 is going to get you a genuine LR adventure rack.. Not a new one at least.

I'm sure that there are other things that you can do with the money besides put it into your truck if you don't really need anything for it...

Or you could get a Powertank, saftey seal kit, and an Engle Fridge.

Oh yea, forgot to mention also.. the absolute first thing I did was tires.. just BFG's AT/KOs.. but at least in the mud around here, decent tires go a long way.. and i'm sure its the same in the snow.

I did the new bumper and recovery gear route first and now i am working on lift and getting all the parts that i want for that now. In retrospect i would have done the lift first and just trimmed my front bumper but i got tired of looking at the big crack and how crooked it was.

doens't really matter what you do first.
you'll end up doing it all anyways. :)

I heard that... and on a side note, if this was money that I needed to save for a rainy day I wouldnt have made this post on a LR forum now would I???

I think im gonna start with the lift. (Forgot to mention that I have all the recovery gear I need except for a winch and a winch mount!)

Although I like the idea of selling the stock front bumper and using the money from it to pay for the lift.

Ho, got any spare OME stuff laying around that you wanna give away cheap :D :D

haha. Keep the ideas coming guys!

Might want to use that money towards a new bumper instead, driving around without a bumper isnt recommended :)

800.00 is a nice start to a project :D
800.00 alone will get you a pair of sliders, you will protect your truck from rocks and stumps and other things that go bump in the night, sure they are not as purty as a roof rack but they do a whole lot more than pose for pictures.
3'' lift by the time your done with the springs, shocks and TIRES cuz the old ones look like shit now, is gonna cost you more than 800 for sure.
Winch bumper, well you still need a winch, right? add 800.00+or-(clemson4x4)
so my vote is for sliders, and wheel the holy lovin piss out of it untill you need to replace what you broke.
enjoy the truck and welcome to our nightmare bwhaaaahhaaaahahahaha.
