What winch is in your ARB?

I squteezed a left over Ramsey REP 9000 into my ARB this evening. Havent hooked up the relay/power yet. Im worried its kinked as it is very tight-the motor is rubbing/in contact the crush can.

google fu say my Ramsey is the longest at 22.64, Mile Marker at 22.25 and Warn XD9000 at 21.75.

If my Ramsey is kinked, run doesnt run freely, or whatever, I'll pull it and put it in the wife's Expedition- lots of room there.

So, if I start looking to replace it, Im thinking either a used Warn XD9000 or a new Mile Marker 9500.

Tell me what is in your ARB, how it fits, and what problems you've had.

I appreciate your comments, 11b4v

My 04 came with an ARB had a superwinch X9 in it. The fit was ok but it was close to the frame rails. The biggest problem I had with it was that it was in an ARB.

I've been running a MileMarker 10,500 lbs. Hydraulic winch for the past 4 years. Never had a problem. It's slow, but never stops pulling. Love it.

not really, ARB's are "designed" around Warn 9000Lbs low line winches (primarily XD9000, M8000 etc), if you want to shoe horn somink else in there, its up to you to make it fit, not their design.

nope, aint gonna get rid of it (donning flame retardent nomex now) given the good deal / trouble finding this one and lack of reasonable cost, immediate available alternatives. Im in the middle of moving from out of state and this ARB deal fit both financially, and immediate availablily for a winch mount.

An immediate alternative would have been a DAP hidden winch plate, but the consensus here and elsewhere is that it is OK and only good for straight on winching. $200 diverted from my limited winch mount funds didnt seem wise to me.

Custom / RTE's / HLCFab, etc, all seem to have high cost I cant afford right now. Not to keen on the knife blade style either, just my preference. I really like the HLCFab bumper, but at $14000 with skid plate, its just out of my budget. I also like the TerraFirma DII winch bumper, but I want some grill /light protection, and they have yet to develop a brush guard/light guard version/add on.

And, I couldnt wait. I have this bad habit of exploring any dirt road / jeep trail and need a winch mount. gotta have self extraction. I avoid banging into boulders, large trees and the like as my truck is currently my daily driver with my recent career change (bye bye company truck, miss the company gas)

so, now you know, the ARB stays.
