Where?
Who?

Any recommendation?

me..just kidding.
I went to see Gilles at DisoTech http://landroverpartscanada.com/
recommended as v.good independent LR specialist, for pre-sale inspection.
I've not been thrilled, may be he is a good repairman but his prices go close to 'stealership's'. Quotes for repairs needed to pass inspection aprr.$2500, did myself, $500 in parts and didn't have to touch back exhaust (passed e-test no problem) that he said needs to be replaced. Missed stuck CDL and play in front bearings, din't take it for a test drive..
Some say he is the best in town, may be he is,but he didn't want to save me expenses for sure.
And the website doesn't list parts prices, that I, personally, don't like.

Yep, I agree with Land rover Salvage. He's much cheaper than the dealer as far as hourly rate goes, and I'm sure he's just as,if not more competent than Land Rover mechs.

There's also a guy in Brampton that is very well known, but the business name doesn't come to mind.

I bought my truck off Dom @ LRS...good guy and he's easy to do business with. He's also always on the lookout for used parts incase you have anything you'd like to get rid of.

My truck was apparently serviced by DiscoTech in Toronto before I got it and I honestly have no idea what they did with it over the years because it has a ton of problems. Mine had a stuck CDL aswell (looked like it had been that way for atleast a few years) and a laundry list of smaller problems I keep finding.

I don't know about best mechanic, but if you need something simple like clearing ABS codes on a DII, MINIT AUTO SERVICE in St. Catharines has a ROVACOM unit and they charged me about half of what DISCOTECH and BUDDS in Oakville wanted...

The most important thing is they have to know LAND ROVER.... as it is not a common truck like Explorer. That's why we love LR so much :victory:

To summarize:
1) Disco Tech - expensive
2) LR Salvage - good service and reasonable, but far from TO.
3) Minit - reasonable.

Any other suggestions, pal?

People either love Discotech or hate them. Not middle ground.
I use Dom on my Series. Knowledgeable.
I use a local independent shop in Brampton to do my D90 work. I provided the CD's to him and we work very collaboratively on things.
The other person who used to be around was Kevin Robinson north of Brampton, but he is no longer wrenching as he now lives an 80w-free life of automobile review writing.
And if I could do more of it myself I would but I tend to spazz on a number of things.
