Here's one of mine from a previous Monster Moon, taken in Cedar Mesa in 2011. I was not able to achieve the sweet Milky Way look that Zach captured despite being in one of the darkest areas of the country. I need to learn more about this technique.

Zack, what's the story behind this pic? Did you shoot it on film or was this a digital long exposure that you removed the LCD noise from? Composted pics?


Can't take a picture like that on film, as the earth is spinning, you cannot get a clear picture with more than 30sec on the shutter speed. Therefore need digital with super high ISO.

You could get film with very low grain and 1700 ISO (not sure about color, though).
