So I found a 04' Disco but it has a salvage title. It was apparently rolled over on its side and had some roof damage but was repaired. I haven't looked at the vehicle yet but the owner states that is in good condition both physically and mechanically.

I have several trucks with salvage titles. Depending upon what you intend to do with the truck, there can be no reason to be afraid of a salvage title.

Thes vehicles have already lost so much value and have little to no resale value that a salvage title will not have significant impact on its value, especially to the likes of us.

My Truck has a salvaged title when I bought it my intention was only to use it as a trail truck and resale was not a concern.

Yes, as long as I can get liability insurance on it. I wouldn't feel as bad about scratches and bending it up off road.

nowadays if a car gets rust on the bumper they want a salvage title on it...I'd find out what was wrong, there's lots of crap that could cause a salvage title that doesn't really make any difference on the car performance.

^^agreed.

Especially with a 'luxury' vehicle like a Land Rover. MSRP on replacement parts is HUGE. And since the trucks lose value so fast, it doesn't take a very crazy wreck to cause enough damage to enough pieces to total it out.

Got rear ended in my D1. Received over $1k for the damage (bumper, end cap, and bumper light busted, with a small dent on the rear quarter panel). But INS has to buy the whole new bumper, TWO end caps, TWO bumper lights, ALL new mounting hardware/brackets, plus an entire new quarter panel, then pay for all the painting and hourly charges at the shop. Of course I didnt really car, took the check and bought suspension upgrades...a busted bumper, pfft, it is bound to happen on the trail anyway.

Just try and look around the frame. Frame damage, even if repaired, is never good. Weakens the crumple points and you will find that V8 in your knees.
