Roof rack was in the garage.

there's no way you know that that wouldn't have happen. i would think a wrangler would have been far less stable in the same situation. maybe in an new four door wrangler with the long wheel base, it would have been more stable, but you have no way of knowing what the other road conditions were. saying something like that is just ignorant.climbskiroverguy said:

say it was the exact same situation, and the wrangler hit it in the exact same way. for better measure, let's make sure it's a lifted wrangler with the same size tires, the same strength bumpers...everything.
then if the wrangler hit the deer the exact same way, traveling at what i assume is 55 MPH (the speed of almost all back-country, county roads like he was traveling on), then when he hit the deer and swerved, the jeep would have jerked far more severely than the disco, as the disco's longer wheelbase lends it to being a little more stable than the jeep. sure there is less weight on top of the jeep, but the facts are there. the jeep would have had the exact same fate, possibly worse.
this is all considering the driver of said jeep reacted at the exact same moment, in the exact same way.

shit it doesnt matter what vehicle hits the deer, swerves, and drops into a 2ft ditch, you're probably gonna roll at high speed just like that disco.

yeah CARS possibly, and that's a big MAYBE. a top heavy SUV of any make is not going to be able to regain control by the typical driver after clipping a deer at speed. you like saying stupid things, don't you?climbskiroverguy said:

think about it, how many country roads DON'T drop off on the sides. very rarely are there guardrails, which probably wouldn't do that much anyways.

Speed was about 40, road has a few curves so I wasn't going all that fast.
After hitting the deer, the deer seemed to block the entire windshield, then I did swerve, a bit too late, hit the ditch and from there shit gets fuzzy. I think it truck landed on the passenger side, but quickly rolled over with enough momentum to then land primarily right above the drivers seat.
How I walked away unhurt is truly amazing.
