What are people smoking…looking for a clean, used D2. Casually looking, but people need to put the crack pipe down. Looked at one today (drove past where it was parked, where's its been on and off for a month), 2000, SD, 200k, cracked seats, AZ truck, no rust, no paint fade…Very clean

wait for it

it's coming

4500…:eek::rofl:

Guy said he has offers for the asking price so I asked why is it still sitting here, and has been since last month. Didn't appreciate the comment. Drove it, wouldn't shift into low, intermittent 3 amigo's, P1590, needs brakes, threw P1884,P0174,P0175,P0420,P0430…

Offered him 1200 cash, as is

Basically told me to fuck off and stop wasting his time

WTF

That's fantastic. I can just picture that conversation, too. Way to call him on it, Frank. And good luck finding a clean truck for a reasonable price. I just picked up a cherry D1 but it took me about 4 years of waiting for the right one to come along.

His reaction was awesome…
Dipshit:Huh, what, I've got offers for the asking price so what your deal
ME:looking for a clean D2, thats actually still has paint on it, a engine that runs and instrument cluster that doesn't look like a Christmas tree
Dipshit: Stop wasting time, you want to drive it or what
ME: Yep
Dipshit: I have to ride with you, don't want it stolen
ME: Gotcha, let's go
Dipshit:(as I plug in the code reader) what the fuck is that and why are you doing that. If you break it, you pay full price.
ME: code reader, tells what wrong and why the dash looks like a Christmas tree. Trucks got issues, before we even drive I offer to give 1200 cash, today…needs brake work, cat's and o2 sensors
Dipshit: Nope, asking what I'm asking
ME: won't shift into low, does the 4 wheel drive work (baiting him)
Dipshit: For such a expert, it's a full time 4 wheel drive truck. Traction Control HDC, it's awesome off-road
ME: Really, see those lights on the cluster, it's means it's all disabled because of a ABS issue.
Dipshit: you can leave now
ME: sure, I'll call you next month and see if you want to sell for 900, 'cause that's what I'll offer then…1200, today…cash
Dispshit: Fuck off
ME: have a nice day

It's not rovers. A lot of people have over inflated ideals about what a car is worth and what the definition in buying guides of "in good condition" means.

About 20% of craigslist ads I looked at when looking for a car for my kid went something like:

Price: (A bit more then KBB/Edmunds/etc)
Then a description of how great it is....then the last sentence of, "Just needs a little motor/trans work"

Same goes for boats.

He pulled the ad, number just rings, no voice mail, truck is gone from where it was parked for the last month...

I just responded to an advert on Facebook for a '95 DI with a crashed right front end, missing fender... Cracked winscreen.

"Battery died, activated alarm, won't crank..."

PM'ed him offering to fix it or give him $300. Almost politely declined.

Go to look at it some smartass says he can fix it in ten minutes, knows exactly what's wrong with it... Yeah, sure, you betcha!

Several DIIs locally with adverts stating "Comes with $250 head gasket kit, don't have time to install". Yeah, uh huh, tell me about how that's gonna fix it. The best one is a guy who wants $4500 for an '01 with water in oil after three headjobs. Gee, do you think it might not be the head gaskets? I offered to haul it away for free and I thought I was being generous.

It's a Land Rover Yo! We have all kinds of crack heads wanting $4,000+ for their stock DI's here. I also love how a $300 lift and $500 bumper turns a $1,200 truck into a $6,500 truck.

What kills me is what people ask for BMW Range Rovers. These days you can't even work on the things without something else breaking on your road test. Just this week we got the " It wasn't knocking when I brought it here!!" Some hourly kid had to clean 4 inches of sludge off the bottom of the oil pan that was plugging up the sump. Then the kid would put a coil in it and drive it, then need another coil after his test drive. 3 or 4 coils later the thing runs ok but the rt front strut ruptured. I call that normal.

Mine is started to develop rust along the typical areas and it's bothering me. I have a rear cargo area pan ready to go in, and already patched the driver's pan before it got bad. I try as hard as I can to keep it clean as possible but winters here are rough on a 21 year old truck. I'm thinking about treating underneath with something but not sure if it's too late.
