Ok,
JAL / ANA has thier Maintenace in China........
And has one of the worst service I ever had. (Bunch of lazy ass and liers)

NW laid off thier Maintenace but has a decent Service with so so Food.

Continental Air Losses Luggage all the time and thier Food Tastes like Puke.
Delta only flys to Tokyo with one flight. (Use to fly to Japan with them till they discontinued the Direct flight to Nagoya)

United looses luggage too. (never got my luggage on the same flight. I mean NEVER!)

AA. I dont know..... Havnt flown to Japan with them, but dont fly to Nagoya, means too many connections.

So if you were me wich would you pick?

JAL or ANA

they are very thorough people.IMHO

i mean they get laid off for life if they screw up.

from everything i read in this industry JAL is very good Maint wise and so is ANA
although ANA landed on a taxiway here instead of the runway but thats neither here or there nothing to do with the service your looking for.

ANA i worked with on contract for there cargo flts never passengers and i can definately say they have a good reliability record.a/c in very good condition.

if i had to fly to japan regularly id go JAL.
i like the japs. very very honorable and trustworthy at least from my point of view.
and very good new equipment.
i wouldnt worry about the food
although it could be your last meal so may be you should stick with North Worst.

Jim , Are you serios about JAL and ANA????

Have you heard about all the miss hap's that they have been having??
Burst tires few times, engine on fire, parts flying off the engine afteer take off and hitting the houses down below, etc etc. I know it didnt make a big news in US but there has been many these days. Also BIG Union problems. Damn. If you know how to read Japanese news paper you will see them having problems. Even my Mother company in Japan is saying not to fly JAL if you can avoid these days.

we all have incidents once in a while and sometimes a rash of incidents.
burst tires
engine fires
in flt shut downs
uncommanded deviation from flt path.
total electrical failures
bird strikes
the list goes on.think about how many flts a day they have compared to incidents.

we have a saying in maintenance ,your only as good as your last departure,
in otherwords they forget all the good days and only know the bad days.

shit happens.and afterwards they get better as they are being watched more thoroughly.

yes i do think JAL and ANA are good airlines ive worked with ANA and i know the Manager for JAL here at JFK.
pick up flight international mag or air transport world if your realy interested.
they usualy list incidents for the month.

and most of all the MEDIA SUCKS they only get people interested with the bad shit
otherwise
know one cares less.

happy travels Nori

I understand that you have good relation and good experience with JAL.
But for me, I think I had enough of them. Maybe because you are American and I am Japanese and they service people different. Majority of the people who live in Japan treat foreigners more better than their own Japanese people. Not all though. Maybe I am just too americanized now.:patriot:

Planes are kinda like Rovers- they require a lot of attention and can break quite often but rarely enough to take it out of service while in use.
Chances are you're time isn't "up" when you fly, just hope you aren't on the same plane with the dude whose time IS up.

WTF, over? FWIW, I like it. I've even thought of doing the same thing to my DII:eek: And I really like the 'killed' stickers on the front quarter panel. Again, I had thought of doing the same thing on mine, however, my "kills" would include two birds, a Rotwiler(sp?) and a Accura.

well stupid me i just realized your japanese

well i for one hold your people and your race in very high esteem.

like i said above thoroughness ,dependability, and extream attention to detail IMO is
a Japanese trait.

I like JAL i like ANA
people can post all the bad media coverage you want thats all you will find is bad stuff.
as soon as an airline sufers financialy
maintenance gets looked at intensely.
Maintenance is always a financial loss as its always a cost and not a revenue maker.
so if your airline is financialy hurting you automaticly go on the FAA watch list.

again the media sucks i dont beleieve half the shit i read as my Airline made headlines years ago because of an outside airline we handeled.
we were trashed and they had all THEIR facts wrong.
they retracted the article.

When I used to fly back and forth to Tokyo, ANA was MILES ahead of any of the american carriers all across the board. And the food (back then at least) was much better than what I would get on american flights unless I was in first class. I never flew JAL though so I cant comment on them. However this was back in 1999 so lots has changed I am sure.

Just about the same color in the pics. I imagine one could tell the difference in person, but on the computer it's about the same.

Go figure. All this fuss about a color that's about the same as AA.

Cheers,

I'd reconsider the big 4.6 numbers on the side. If anything, too big.
