Don't do wine clubs, do your own legwork.

^ This!

I dunno if y'all let them put in Trader Joe's down there, but they tend to have decent wine selections. Or, you can get a case of Charles Shaw (the finest of wines) for a mere $25.

no sure what all the "anti-club" talk is all about, but there are many many wineries that have fantastic selections of wine available through buyers clubs. My wife and i have subscribed to several in the past and are currently members of the Jessup Cellars Quarterly club.
most good wineries will only ship reds, and may or may not ship to your state (depending on local laws).
here in utah we are not eligable for direct shipping so we've had to get creative ;)

Best thing to do is if you can afford to take the time and taste, go to a series of wineries and taste what they have. One winery my wife and I love, we visited just about 4 months ago. Paid $15 apiece for 8 samples, but in the end, got to sample about a dozen when they realized we were serious about buying. We walked out with a club membership and 2 cases. When you know you've found something good, you buy into it. But you will know. I seriosuly suggest just visiting some wineries and trying them out. And my wife wonders why I want to go to Argentina so much :p
