I think a M-F trip would yield the greatest turnout. Especially from people that have to burn a day or two traveling each way. Just my $.02. Hats off to you for organizing this.

I'm tentatively in. My March-April is wide open right now. The sooner a date comes up, the better though. I really like the idea of Thurs-Mon, but whatever. If you guys decide to do something else, I can meet the group or depart early.

PM some route/road/trail details if you don't want to post them publicly. Is this an East-West trip, or a South-North trip? That will probably play into my plans.

We'll nail down a date in the next week or two once we have a bigger pool of input from people with serious interest.

This is most likely an east-west trip. The route will depend on time available and group capabilities but might be something like this:

Meet up in Blanding, head to Comb Wash or Cedar Mesa and camp
Hike to some some seldom-seen Puebloan cliff houses in Cedar Mesa
After Cedar Mesa, there are lots of possibilities. Piute Pass over Wingate Mesa....explore Moqui Canyon....head eastern shores of Lake Powell....head north across the Abajos into Beef Basin...

It just depends on the crew we have and how motivated everybody is.

Definitely motivated and interested:)
as far as dates, given the erratic nature of my work commitments no time will be ideal and I will leave that for other participants to finalise.

Nothing like a "epic" trip on the horizon to provide the "LR love" and motivation to get back on top of those niggling maintenance issues or at least justify the 10mpg I get as a daily driver in LA traffic:(

Sounds awesome. Only thing that can hold me up is national K9 certifications. They should be early March. Don't know dates for sure.

You totally should. It would be sweet if we end up with some capable trucks. Lots of possibilities.

Wow, this sounds awesome! Already planning a spring trip with the wife and boy down to Baja, so they may not be interested in this... but maybe I could sneak away for it. ...maybe.

Chris, that MUST be a super-secret spot, you even removed the GPS exif data!

March 25 and the entire first week of April are already "booked" for me.

Kris - I don't know where are the lights in the background, but Canyonlands' Needles District is a beautiful, vast, and very unpopulated place. I could spend weeks in this place.

The pic in the first post is in Lockhart Basin. The pic that Ben posted is down closer to Four Corners. The truth is, it's so easy to find "the best camping spot ever" in Utah. The secret is taking random little turn-offs whenever you feel the urge.

I hope to do lots of exploring on this trip because that's half the fun. Take lots of time for exploring side canyons, hikes, photography, etc. I hope y'all can make it.

Y'all hear this, East Coast people?

This approach drove me to a few hairy places in Mojave Desert and Mono Basin... In Colorado, too.

Alright, I'm ready for this trip. Like, now. The ski season is going to shit, so in the interest of staying positive I'm starting to plan my rover trips for the year. Lets get some dates simmering. How's mid April look?

Mid-April is looking good for me. Keep in mind that Easter Sunday is April 8th. This makes no difference to me but some people may have family plans that weekend.

I almost never pass a turnoff when driving off pavement. The trouble around here is that many of them are old logging roads that are either bermed and overgrown or just neglected and reclaimed by the forest.

I have a number of quads from the mid 60's for the Chattahoochee National Forest. They show road after road that doesn't exist anymore.

As a recovering catholic, I'd rather be in the Utah desert anyway.
