With how much rust this truck has it may evolve into that. I honestly started this project to curb my money spending on the white one after buying the rear bumper from Denny.
 Hahaha! Yeah right. Once you get into this thing I can't see you not going all out. I honestly don't think you'll be satisfied with "good enough".
I'm going to call it right now. Once you get into this thing you'll sell the white one to buy a tow vehicle. ;)

oh i liked it a whole lot.

but i like AC, heated seats and a happy dry wife a little more.

thats why i love the D2. heated seats, ac, i stay somewhat dry, etc.

however, my wife called me at the shop one day and told me and i quote 'is my BMW okay to drive? because if i have to drive this piece of shit rover one more day you're signing the papers!. bring my car home and take this god damn truck away!' keep in mind thats the D2 that runs, looks good, and starts every time....

you, like me, know keep the wife happy and you are happy. ironically my wife doesn't care for rovers/trucks in general, but she wants me to build a buggy because it would be fun to ride in a buggy???? chicks are funny sometimes.

Yea this is what you do when you're a poor 24 year old kid :D

you'll get not one ounce of sympathy from me, when i was your age i was rubbing two nickels together to 'pimp' a Mk3 gti....you're working with a a luxury SUV, even if they are worth $500 today, the parts and aftermarket parts are still going to be priced accordingly. boohoo, I'm a 24 year old trying to pimp a luxury import sport utility....:D
just because you chop a rover, it doesn't mean you'll be able to follow me on trails.....you still have to spend money to get it down the trail.

.....and it was the best vehicle i have ever owned.

Don't need to build a chopped truck to keep up with you that's what the white one is for. Once again this project is just for fun. I'm not looking for sympathy I've already dropped a ton of money into a more than capable truck.

I was driving a Chevette and working in a sewage testing lab. Fortunately, I was living in Kentucky and it rarely snowed and I had a car and lived on campus so I didn't have to walk uphill to school.

Someday, I'll have a tube buggy. In the meantime, it's a bull-nosed and eventually bob-tailed Rangie to wheel.

The wife has made it very clear that she never expects to ride in the Rangie and doubts she'll ever ride in a full-on buggy.

Something about the time we were in mud up to the windows-on the inside of the truck-seems to have colored her against Rovers, well, that and the small fortune I've wasted over the past ten years, the good job, my education, my career... I can't imagine why she feels this way.

I'm not sure if I have a bad battery or a bad ground. The battery dies in seconds if it is not running or being jumped.

I am going to need to make new brake lines as well. I just clipped them as they were so rusty I couldnt believe they were still in one piece. Any advice on making hard brake lines?

What is the easiest way to get the quarter panels off?

Making Bubble flares is really easy to do. Get a good flaring tool though, makes a big difference. Save and reuse your old fittings. Get a 25' roll of 3/16" brake line from NAPA and have at it.

unbolt them and ship them to me. I need good 95 beluga black ones.

If I remember correctly part of them is attached with an adhesive which is why I am sure Joel is suggesting just cutting them off.

If you cover shipping I am not opposed to shipping them to you. I am guessing it isnt going to be cheap

I've got a spare 95 code reader. swap? I don't know where to start with shipping panels. they'd probably get crushed in cardboard via ups.

Yea unless I sent them with pillars attached and then it would be heavy as HELL. I am in for a swap though if you can figure out the shipping

Unhook the battery, check standing voltage in the morning. May have a bad cell.
NAPA sells brake line, already flared with fittings, in various lengths.

Most auto parts stores sell the lengths with fittings up to 48" or so. But if he's replumbing the whole system then a roll is going to be the way to go.

I guess it's all depending on the cost.. The tool is $250 + the lines or just buy the already made lines if the fittings fit and piece together a couple of them.

Unless one of the parts guys wants to hook me up for cheap!

You can rent the the flaring tool from NAPA. I think they held $80 on my credit card until I brought it back. I believe it was a 2 week rental. So basically its a free rental.
