The Lou!
I've been busy...

Where I work, we do repair on all the U.S. Postal vehicles. After they get painted, we install $5500 toilet seat government quality red, white & blue decals. Guess what I found laying around? Yeppers, 90' of 6" white vinyl!!!

Needless to say, idle hands...

Man this takes a long time!

p.s. Note Steven's masterpiece taped to my window for inspiration - thanks, I owe you a ride next month!

I like it.

Anybody play with the small 3 3/4" GIJOE action figures as a kid? I still have all of mine at my parent's house. They had a special series called Tiger Force. Basically black zebra stripes on a yellow and brown and white colored vehicle with the awesome tiger/shark mouth and eyes in the front. That'd be sweet on a disco I think.

I personally think the zebra stripes would look cool on a darker colored vehicle. Black stripes on a green rover would be kinda subdued, or on a dark blue rover too.

Hey Mr. Greenspan,

I still play with all of my 3 3/4" Joes! :D

There was a Disco II at RR3 that had Zebra stripes on it...you'll definitley get noticed.

Kinda slow today at the office when a vendor of mine says he's got a bunch of vinyl he's getting rid of and knows that I get into a lot of different things. So... I think to myself I could zebra stipe the disco. It's vinyl so if I hate it, then rip it off. I can't recall ever seeing a disco zebra striped. many a series, but not so common for the discovery.

I know I'll get flamed for this (cause that's what happens on D-web lately) but what do you think. The picture attached is just a quick photoshop job of what it could look like. Sure would turn a lot of heads. Especially the rednecks where I live.

By the way, my profile pic is what my truck looks like normaly.

God bless the puppies!

Puppies are so much nicer than hairy palms too. ;)

Damn the dark! My striping must resign for the evening. I have a feeling this is gonna take a few days. Hope 90' is enough!

Jen,
Looking Good! I can't wait to see it next month.

James,
The key word I used were "quick Photoshop job". I did save selection as a channel though which came in handy when I did the Green & Black stripes. I do have paths around the body. I didn't mean/think this would be so big a deal. In another post http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7846 I pathed (pen tool) everything. Your work looks great. Sounds better than what I do which is design packaging, hang tags, catalogs & websites for textiles (clothing).

Alex,

Hmmm. Maybe?

Paint - The Real Thing

I got a few more stripes done and just contemplated things sunday and today. I like it so much, and I'm getting such positive remarks from friends/coworkers, that I think I'm gonna rip off the vinyl and go full on paint!

A guy I work with is itching to do it. Since my black is so faded and icky, that he's gonna help me wetsand the black; layout, tape & paint the white, then 2 coats of clearcoat which will bring back the black and protect the stripes.

Hopefully I will be able to get started on wetsanding it next week. :D

mmm...mine is white also, but I think I would get tired of it in a few weeks, if anything I would go with tiger stripes...better be the predator than the prey right? :D
