I'm at Far North Rovers. After talking to Wallace, he says we can adjust the cable and maybe that is all that is wrong. I don't know, but since I have to come back up past his shop after I go down to Kenai, I figure we will try it. If M&S Limp come back, then I can stop and replace the xyz switch.

If it's an adjustment problem and not a problem with the switch itself it's more likely rotational adjustment of the switch and not the cable. When you have the shifter in reverse does the R appear next to the odometer on the instrument panel and does the red light next to the R on the shifter light up?
Well, the fine men here at Far North Rovers say it is a bad battery. Also, that the battery in it is the wrong one. So I have a new Rover specific battery. I'm heading down the Kenai Peninsula. If it comes back, I can stop back by the shop on my way back up and have the switch replaced.
Wrong one? Maybe the wrong size. I'm not aware of any Rover-specific battery. They do like fresh batteries, though.
Please don't tell me it was 850+ CCA.
I put a Sears Platinum marine PM-1 (1050 CCA) in mine and later the alternator went (unrelated). It was under warranty, and the dealership said it was the battery. Hmmmm, only charging at 12.5V....maybe check the alt?
Oh yeah, says the dealer - it was the alt. No way someone was getting my 6mo, $250 battery.

I run Diehard Platinum's in my Jeeps/Rovers/Hummers and have had extremely good results with them. I do remember a certain store trying to tell me 650 +CCA in a LR was to much. I laughed and walked out...
Well, I hope it was just the battery, but the P0705 code indicates otherwise.
