I disagree. These trucks rust from the inside out due to dissimilar metal stuff' You just can't stop it. Sure environment does speed things up, but it's rusting in there.
One design criteria for the P38 was enhanced rust prevention. They certainly are better than the Classic although that benchmark is pretty low.

However galvanic corrosion does not occur in a dry environment. Pretty much impossible in the Northeast as the humidity levels are high also in coastal areas like Florida where salt is also in the air. Yet Arizona, New Mexico, etc galvanic corrosion is not an issue.

I have owned 1989, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998 classic and D1, none had any significant rust. All are from the west and southwest.

In fact I would say the only noticable rust is on my present 98 and it spend some time outside of CO in Nebraska.

On another topic, do you know when the Defender V8's are going to show up? Do you know what engine? Does it suck or have a chance.

Not sure when. I asked a salesman about it after I found 6 piston Brembo front brakes in the service manual. He said they couldn’t decide what V8 they would run. I’m hoping the BMW engine gets the nod. Not because I like BMW, but I’m not a fan of the 5.0 they run now.

" 518 horsepower, 561 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 mph sprint time of 4.9 seconds."

Well, that settles it. Either one is now on my bucket list.

Yes putting that in the two-door must be a wacky experience

Probably similar to old Vikings center Jeff Christy putting a viper engine in his Wrangler...

$100K for the cheaper 110. LOL. Maybe I’ll sell one of my rental homes and buy one for the hell of it.

It'd be worth $75k when you're 10 feet off the car lot. Then it'd be worth even less when it goes tits-up and starts throwing Check Engine codes after you put a few dozen miles on it.

>But it's a Land Rover, so isn't it in a way like a babe ass wife who won't put out?<

That's what I mean. Like the trophy wife who won't put out what good is a Defender that does 0-60 in 4 seconds when it's always in the shop because it's thrown codes.
