oil soaked D1 - how should I clean the under carriage to see what is leaking?

Try a UV light and a dye, you can purchase it at an autoparts store. Just powerwash the underside, maybe spray some simple green or engine cleaner first. Add the dye and drive around. Check everyday for any leak using the UV light. If its a big leak you'll want to see it early, since the dye...

    Any experience with balancing media?

My neighbor is the manager at American Tire and he says that stuff doesn't work. The tire is super off-balance until the stuff spreads out, and then as soon as you slow down, it has to rebalance itself again. Not that it matters at all in the discos, but it generates a lot of centripetal force...

    Dog Guard

When I bought my Disco, I also got my dog, a GSD. I advocate the crate because there are times where the crate is better then the LR guard. In an auto accident, its another layer of protection. If you have to take along a ton of gear, and fold the seats, then you have your dog on top of your...

How many of you have no CEL anymore?

Well, it flashes once a day (for anywhere between 5-20 sec) and then goes solid. When it flashes, nothing changes - the performance is the same. I'll even throttle the engine, and instead of misfiring, studdering, noise, ect... I get tons of really smooth power. Like I said, I'm done...

How many of you have no CEL anymore?

BaldEagle, I agree with you, screw the CEL. I need more substance than a blinking light for me to throw any more money at it. I've been driving this thing for 6 months with that thing blinking at me on occasion, spent literally thousands of dollars trying to fix it at the dealer/local rover...

How many of you have no CEL anymore?

After many frustrating month, and replaced spark plug, wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, stepper motor, vacuum hoses, valve job, VSS, MAF sensor and I few other things I can't recall off the top of my head to try to solve the P1313 and P1314 code - I decided to pull the CEL bulb. The...

Dangerous Dog Advice - big dilemma for a dog lover...

I am a dog lover, and I have to say, good job for saving this dog's life. I own a German shepherd and a rottie mix and they are my kids so I understand the attachment you may have on this stray. Unfortunately, you have an uphill battle here. For those who have told you, that you need to be...

I just had the same thing happen to me. I had a 1313 and 1314, even after a head job. The mechanic then identified the IAC to be the problem.

    Silblade for rear of DII?

Are the Silblades worth the money? For those of you guys who have them, are they really that much better then regular windshield wiper blades. The rear blade on my Disco has always been poor, and new regular replacements don't seem to do the job, and I'd consider replacing it with one of...

    brake pads

Greatest thing about the rover calipers is that they don't need to come out. Just pull out the pins, remove the metal stays, compress the calipers with the old pads in, pull them out, insert the new pads, replace the metal stays, and then the pins. Actually it takes longer to take the wheel...

Mounting OEM Brush Guard for D1???

Make sure to use Grade 8 bolts to mount the guard, and don't trust the shackle mounts on the guard. Many people have pulled with the guard and ended up doing damage to the hood as it rotates.

    When rotors go bad?

Putting new pads on grooved or warped rotors causes the rotors to eat up the new pads. I tried to be cheap one time and put new pads on grooved rotors and the rotors ate up the new pads in only a few months. Sean is right, the rotors aren't supposed to be turned. They'll end up being too...
